Does "play to" mean lose? Meaning why tap the line if you don't get down.

I think the stat that I've heard before, that is supported by the data Nevyn provided, that about 70% of people gambling in Vegas have less than a $600 overall gambling budget, is interesting. And only a very small % of people visiting Vegas are there primarily to gamble.

"play to" means if you are losing, you access the full amount of your credit line to either try to get even, or lose the entire line. You don't shut down early if you have lost $250k of your $1 million LOC. Of course if you are winning you would not be playing to your entire line. It has more to do with what you do when you are losing.

In another thread if was mentioned that a player staying in a 2 bd mansion room shut it down early after losing low six figures. That would be an example of not playing to your line, and probably why the guest was asked to move as he was in that suite due to his established credit line

Wow. That's interesting, although I don't know how they do it. I consider myself a very low roller and I wouldn't even think about going to Vegas on $600. That could be gone in one cold shoe while betting quarters.

Come to think of it, if I could get my rocks off with a $600 bankroll id probably be better off...

I had never read that before, but it was along the lines of what I was guessing. As an engineer, of my coworkers, I have always been 'the gambler', or at least the one willing to talk about it. Most of the people that I have worked with either dont gamble, or if they go to Vegas it is to do other stuff and maybe risk a few hundred.

My wife is a nurse, and a lot of the younger nurses that she works with go to Vegas just to go to the clubs. She is the gambler among her coworkers, and when they are chit chatting they are amazed that we get free rooms.

Usually it means play to the theo equivalent. For instance 1m will require you to play to 250k theo.

That's my understanding from casino people when they discuss lines and whether people play to them. Hard losses of the entire line of course counts too.

Yeah play to means you actually put it at risk.

Which is a combination of theo and actual loss.
