You're not alone for sure, but I never get this whole analyzing what someone else makes before I decide how much their service is worth to me. What the hell do I care, I hope they make 6 figures (they don't). It's a hard job, I keep an immaculate room and I leave $5/day. Yes... there have been times that I've only tipped $2-$3, if that's what I have (I'm not leaving a $20). I suppose part of my reason for tipping knowing my room is always left clean is to balance-out for the shitheads that destroy rooms and don't leave crap. I love walking the hall, as I almost always have a corner-room, and looking in the open doors of the rooms being serviced. They're trashed (I stay at the Hard Rock...nuff said) and I feel a bit badly for the folks that clean that shit daily.

 

I always leave $10 or $20 on the pillow daily with a "Have a great day" note. Most of the time the housekeeping will leave a "Thank you" note and tons of extra "stuff". I feel it is hard work and deserved...Karma!

 

I am always in a large suite and commonly by myself so there is very little for housekeeping to do.
That said I think if one is in a Salon at Wynn it is incumbent on one to not go cheapo and also to acknowledge the hard job they do.
I compromise with $10 in the AM and $10 for turn down since they clean after showers and re-do the bed if I took a nap.
And $10 to the housekeeper means much more than it does to me.
I always tip daily, never at the emd.

 

I leave $5 daily. I also clean my room before housekeeping comes in. There is little for them to do. I always bring a package of lysol wipes. I have passed by rooms with an open door and seen the mess some people leave. The worst I saw was across the hall in the Flamingo a few years ago. There must have been 30 or 40 pizza boxes and just a sh*tload of other trash. -- I stared and shook my head and the housekeeper just acknowledged me and shook her head back.

 

I just realized this is the first time that I used the forbidden word.

 

@Valgal , you are old school. You're part of that whole generation that cleaned before the weekly cleaning lady came.(me too!)

 

Lol. I always clean Monday nights (before the cleaning ladies come, Tuesday morning) too. Of course, in my case, it's just because I don't want them to think I'm such a slob...

 

That's why EVERYONE does it!

No kidding. We always laugh as to why we're cleaning up for the housekeeper.

P.S. Last time around we had to blow out in a hurry owning to a family matter and when I saw her earlier this week I piped her some more cash and apologized.
