My buddy and I stay at Flamingo a couple times of year. When I go with the wife it is usually the Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental. But with my buddy we are looking for cheap and well located for poker playing purposes and the Flamingo fits that bill perfectly. The rooms are clean enough for sleeping, showering and watching 15 minutes of ESPN in the morning, which is all we use them for. The walk over to Caesars or PH for 1/3 or 2/5 is super quick. One of the main attractions of the Flamingo, which has left us with more than our share of stories over the years, is drunk 2/4 poker @2am and then it is an easy crawl back to the room. I would never ever, ever stay there with the wife or for any other reason than the bi-annual poker trip.

So I just got s call from a travel marketing company offering me 3 nights at Flamingo in exchange for sitting in a wholesale travel marketing pitch. She claimed Flamingo just spent $200 million in 2015 renovating the place. Either she lied or that was the worst waiste of money ever.

I just got back from a trip and we stayed at the Flamingo - and I'd stay there again, but to be fair and honest I'll tell the bad stuff too. Stayed in a room off of the Spa elevators and all but the last day only two of the six elevators were working (three worked in the morning and got up to four by that evening). Both Friday and Saturday nights I tried to take a shower and there was no hot water. Complained about both, got a "yeah, sorry about that we're working on it" response.

You would purposely stay in a hotel again that had no hot water at night, two days in a row?

It's the first time out of 15 times staying there that anything like that has happened, so my history there would say that it was an anomaly. If it happened again, then yes I would look to stay somewhere else the next time.
