The main reason you won't see a massive update right away lies in the "problem" they have:
    1. It is always busy
    2. The casino is crowded
    3. The rooms are cheap

If people are packing the place no need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars. That is a huge price to recoup.

If anyone who doesn't stay at Motel 6 is spoiled, I guess you're right.

I think if they are going to knock something down they should start with Bally's at least the Flamingo has a little bit of history and personality. Who is enthused by Bally? Honestly

What's a dump? Not sure why folks are getting fired up over something so relative. Before it graciously succumbed, Riviera was a dump. Now, compared to the Mogadishu Travelodge maybe not, but comparing across high-visibility tourists spots, it was a dump. Haven't been to Plaza in a good decade, but that decidedly was a dump. We've had some dour and threadbare rooms at Rio. That would seem to qualify despite the adoration of the Kool-Aid brigade duped by the big footprint.

#3 on your list is a problem. CET has to many of those places in a high priced neighborhood.

Flamingo has history and the more importantly the footprint to have a decent pool and some other stuff that Ballys, Harrahs, and PH do not have. They don't need to tear down the place and build from scratch, but they could overhaul the casino in the same style MGM did with their Grand Renovation or whatever they called it.

The parking garage and elevators must be the worst on the strip. I'd start the rebuild there!

If the Flamingo magically disappeared from the Strip, it would result in an increased demand on the remaining low end hotels, which would result in rate increases across those hotels.

My concern with the other board's no criticism, unabashed fawning bordering on delusional approach to these low end CET properties is that some of the Vegas virgins asking the question may be accustomed to better accommodations. The fact that one hasn't visited Las Vegas does not mean one has never traveled, nor does it mean one is willing to trade cleanliness, speedy elevators, and breathable air to save a few bucks. The glowing comments about those properties mislead a portion of their Vegas virgin audience.

I stayed back in the 80's before Mirage.
I had nice memories of some all night blackjack sessions so I went in a year ago for the first time in many years.
I think the carpet is the same carpet that was there when Park Place owned it.
I sat at a vp machine and had to leave as is reeked of vomit.
    Stay classy CET.

All I want them to do is clean the place, and keep it clean, possibly some refresh on the rooms too. It amazes me the times I stepped in there, just how much trash is around, on elevators, all over casino floor, etc, and then all the small things in the room that are broke or damaged. For the longest time it was easily the best value on the strip and I've stayed there many times, after last couple times there though, I have to say it will take a lot to even get me to walk in the casino anymore.

Jinx is right - a good cleaning is needed. I have no desire to be in there because it is just dirty. Sticky floors, trash, etc.

It serves it's purpose in the CET chain and can be refreshed without a huge rebuild.

As far as Vegas strip properties go it is a dump. Is it a dump compared to the fucking hostel I stayed in when traveling to Machu Picchu? No. That was a unique level of dumpness that I'll never repeat.
