Agreed 100% until you're talking $10 "should I hit on 16" players trying to hang around players in the multi thousand per hand range. There is a certain circus animal element to hovering over play at that level.......

"Geez Martha, after we use the 2-1 up at the Gold Coast buffet, we should see if Nate Dogg is in the HL room at the Wynn." We can look at this through rose colored glasses or realize that gawking at big play as entertainment can easily be taken the wrong way.

    It's creepy, not socio-economic.

There's a right way and a wrong way, but in my experience the folks that intend no harm, but just to watch high limit play are so far out of their element that they say and do some really strange things.

Of course, there's potty trained single credit quarter players, but there are also plenty of Cousin Eddies that can ask/say/do the wrong thing or even worse, lurk for eternity without saying a word. The damage isn't intentional and the quiet ones are trying to be polite, but by doing so, they are uber creepy.

I dont mind friends sitting with me at a bj or bacc table just to watch or play lower limits. Ive asked the pit to let them play well below the posted limits and most of the time they allow it. I just like to have a good time with everyone.

Now the lookey loos that just stand behind you on a bj table, i tell them to please move along and I stop playing until they leave. Ive done this a few times in talon room. Its the superstition in me since I always lose with lookey loos standing behind me.

If I may inject into this once more. I had arranged well in advance to meet Nate for craps at Cosmo one night. Nate and I had never met in person and had only communicated through another site. I arrived and Nate was doing a bit of donating on a private table on the casino floor. I bought in for $3-500 as this was all I could afford. Nate had half the craps table and i had the other half. It was a fun experience.

So I start getting on a bit of a roll and Nate starts pressing and winning back a bit. Nate requests I roll him a Hard 6. Which of course I do on that very roll. My dealer pays me $50 for $1 on my $42 six. I watch as they pay Nate out in coloured chips I seldom get to touch never mind see.

Allow me to say I was more than happy picking up my green chips while they paid Nate just over $18000 on his hit. Keep in mind I was still sober and I even asked the dealer what that payout was because I knew it was a lot so this is not an exaggeration. We both cashed out with a win. Mine was about $200 and I might respectfully suggest Nate's was a bit more. That did not lessen my enjoyment of a $200 win on my first hour in the city.

Afterwards Nate treated to a little dinner and then invited me to the HL Baccarat room. At Nate's play the HL boss was willing to let me play whatever I wanted but I watched for a bit and enjoyed a couple drinks. The first shoe is choppy but Nate starts losing hard on the next shoe. Nate was too much of a gentleman to say it but I sensed it was time for me to leave him and allow him to focus on getting that money back as he had signed out a 6 figure marker when we sat down. Of course I left. I didn't see Nate again for that trip but he did text and tell me he won the marker back and then some.

Because the tone of this thread seems to suggest rolling with the big dogs would not be welcomed I am here to say that is not true. What is needed is a bit of common sense or sensitivity to your fellow gambler whether they be grinders or whales. I would also suggest you read a few of your fellow posters posts and trip reports to get a gauge of their personalities and/or habits, traits or superstitions.

And I would also be remiss if I did not mention the generosity of Shifter and Vegasbeejay on my bday two years ago making it my best Annual 35th bday ever. We crushed the craps tables and hit up Beachers Madhouse at MGM with those two fine gentlemen and my crew. Their generosity was also hugely appreciated. I have fewer specifics about that night as it got very very drunky before we even got in the club, In fact my Gaggles avatar is from that very night.

I first met one of our rollers here at a high-end bacc table. I was meeting up with a couple other degens and was introduced. Great individual but he was not there to make chit-chat with me and I personally -- personally -- did not feel it remotely appropriate for me to shoulder-sit. I wasn't playing, I had no intention of playing, and I'm not talking here about playing. I'm talking about not table-vultering. A bit of hey/howdy, see you later, and I moved on and we caught each other later. I won't do it with shifter and Veej and they're buds.

that's really what it all comes down to regardless of bankroll size.

when you're winning, everybody's happy. high fives, dealer tokes, jumping and screaming, the more, the merrier.

but when you're running bad and playing with other people you know, there's nothing worse than trying to get some space and play alone for a while to change things up to get back in the game and they follow you and you feel like you can't get away.

Exactly this. I've met up with several of the higher-rollers on this board, and have always felt welcome while playing. I do think there's a bit of relativity involved; if you're sitting with someone betting $1k a hand, and want to bet black chips below the table limit, that's one thing, but if you want to bet $5, that can be a bit uncomfortable. And hell, I remember back when I first started going to Vegas, having friends wave me off from a super-low-minimum craps table (or me waving them off) because it was a good run and we didn't want to interrupt the vibe.

Outside of gambling, though, all of the people I've met from this board have been some of the nicest I've come across, and I've enjoyed many a meal and/or cocktail with them. There are fantastic people on this board. We just have to respect the gambling voodoo. And a big part of it is, as shifter mentioned, just being able to sense when things are off and it's time to head out. No different than respecting when your friends want a night to themselves.

Great replies everyone. Hopefully I can meet some of you in Vegas in May. It's awesome to here that everyone can gamble together no matter what bankroll you have. It's all about having a good time.

I usually play .25 Full Pay BJ at MSS... yea, that's a buck and a quarter at a time! If you sit next to me and play single line nickels... GTFO! I'll accuse you of being a cheapo Canadian or something?
