I have played Craps with Nate, Shifter, VegasBeejay. They were nice enough to lock up the table and allow myself and a few others to play it as a $10 table. So I can assure you that if you know how to play and don't bet the Dark Side it is entirely possible to play with these nice fellas!

Now if I can just get a trip to coincide with DirtyShirley. It seems like she would be fun to play craps with! And I have gambled so much with that filthy gambling slut Beejay chasing carny bets to feel safe to tell you he will gamble with anyone for anything.

I'm one of the low rollers, and don't see the least appeal in being a hanger on and watching the big guys gamble. Meetups, partying is fun. Some activities, even pricey ones, I can even potentially hang. But I don't want to be sitting at a table I wouldn't be playing at.

And even playing with them can be awkward. Tough to really enjoy a green chip win streak next to a black and above chip losing streak. Can't even imagine it next to someone putting out yellows and above.

I've done this before, and it really wasn't uncomfortable at all. Remember - it's all relative... My $400 win betting greens is just as great as somebody's $16K win betting yellows.
The same is true of losses, of course... I lose $400? That's the same percentage as him losing $16K.
The only real difference is that my $400 loss could be covered by 4 of his tips to the dealer, where it would take 10,000 - to - 15,000 of my tips to do the same.

I'm not a meet people from the boards guy. There's obviously nothing wrong with it, but it's just not my thing. I do Vegas with my crew a certain way and others do as well. I certainly don't want to interfere with others that play my bankroll on a single bet.

As far as being a low roller, chilling with a high roller, there's not going to be much common ground unless you indeed have common ground in other arenas as Ken pointed out. IE, you're a $25 blackjack dude but your culinary experiences trend towards the Michelin stars rather than the Hardee's star.

If you want to gawk, I would honestly recommend against it. The guys here will be nice and say it's all good, but serious players on a losing streak don't want to hear whatever comments you have (from the helpful to suggestive or empathetic) The best case scenario is that the big dog goes on a winning streak and you get to witness something very special and depart. Otherwise, if things go south, there's absolutely nothing you can say in an evolving increasingly awkward situation.

I roll low, but at times I press to $10 and even $25 VP. ($125 per hand) When I bump to those levels, the random comments are annoying at best and overwhelmingly intrusive and creepy at worst. The silent stalkers are just as bad. I know that they mean no harm, but come on man.... Watching a ton of money going down the drain as you lurk in complete silence is just strange. Likewise, when the handpay finally comes it's just weird. A simple one word "congratulations" is the best thing to do, but for some reason people either choose awkward silence or intrusive comments.

Man, that's not at all what I'm seeing in this thread, and not what I know from hanging with some of the peeps here.

I find that wigwam has it about right... if you get along with somebody, the amount that they're betting isn't really an issue, unless the pit won't let you play at the same table because of 'minimums'.
As for the high-end food? I don't generally go to the higher end places with them, unless I'm specifically invited...and even then, my typical reply would be, "Is that on a comp you have?". If it's not, I'll politely decline.
I don't expect anyone to pick up my meals for me (other than casinos), and I don't go to high-end places on my own - again, unless it's comped.

Again, not seeing anyone looking down at folks for the level of bet. And if you don't want to eat X, Y or Z, that's cool. No one is being forced into any of this. Just several of us here, who come from all across the spectrum politically or socially or economically and certainly bet-wise, saying it can be fun to hang out.

The basic premise for keeping the limit high is just to smooth the flow of the game during a hot roll. If each dealer only has to pay off 2-3 bets it goes pretty fast. But a hot table usually attracts players so the limit is moved up to keep the new players off.
