Yeah, I doubt they are going to help you read a putt any better than you could do yourself

The gang at Shadow obviously are quality. The best thing I can say about Wynn Golf Club is the caddie experience. Hit and miss at Cascata. Over the years the most enjoyable of all was a guy we always had at BB. When I wrote the Vegas golf book he was a BIG part of my narrative about Bear's Best. Awesome. Memorable all these years later.

I'm doing Chambers Bay in a week-plus with some of the gang. Carry caddies like at Bandon. The only way to get around (and like Bandon, literally, too). Kills me when folks take caddies at Pebble and then drive. WTF? (And, no, I'm not talking about folks who have blue placards on the rearview mirror.)

Or most any course. But, yes, that is so true. Take Pebble, amble over to the edge, check out the otters, or follow the concrete ribbon from here to there. And I'm glad to see more must-walk courses opening up ... which might sound like so much WTF craziness to our foot-happy friends from across the Pond.

Our course is a pretty good trek, and not because it's been eviscerated by condos and McMansions. It's a core course heading out across 300+ acres of rolling, near-coast, oak- (and vine-) studded hills. She really is a beauty. You tote for 18 there and you know it. It's a good 6.5 miles ... or more depending on errantry. ;)

there are only a few left that are worth anything.

the bulk of them are pretty worthless if you're a decent player.

It takes experiencing a really good caddie to thereafter see how many are a joke.
If they don't carry then it is all suspect. Pelican Hill and Cascata are prime examples.
Our BD caddies are scratch and a 2 from the tips. Real players with real knowledge.
Golf as it is meant to be.
    Ditto Riviera.

And nothing is like a caddie who can needle and have you say laugh, agree and nod thanks. Love that. Real skill. They all should be Romeo Posar!!

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Chamber's Bay. I've played twice and actually got married there on location. I love the place. Was there last month just hanging out with my son. Tough but decently fair course. I shot 10 more than what is my average.

I love Chambers. It's a top 10-er. Unfortunately I had to cancel the trip. Thanks for the photos!
