The High End players are the driver for casino revenue. They trick the shareholders. They claim its due to a drop in high end Bacc, mostly from Asia. That is true, but could the reason the high end play is down is they are dicking around a lot of the high end players? I get squeezing the $25 dollar black jack player or a video poker player, but some of the players on here with what they bring and play it seems like they are killing the golden goose. There is a built in HA in these games, the house will always win out in the long run. If you can get the big time players playing and comping off 40% that is still 60% of a big number. Take out staff and thats still a 30% margin. I don't get it.

they think they can get away with it and people will still come.

the other thing is what most people consider big players and what the casino considers big players is very different.

they still bend over backwards and give whatever they want to the 5-10M crowd and you'd be surprised at how many there are at that level. 100-500k players really are a dime a dozen in the world.

but the other thing is they rank the bigger players based on actual lifetime loss. I don't get what I want all the time because even though I have a good sized BR, I don't come and dump it every trip. some of these guys bring 2-10M every trip and dump it every trip. that's the player they're catering to.

there's guys that have 1-2M+ lines, but play smart and generally don't lose too much and win a good percentage of the time also. these are the players they have stopped catering to.

I believe that there are ways to grow profits while still catering to your customers and making them feel valued and welcomed. It seems as if every company nowadays equates growing profits to fucking people over.

But hey - I'm just a salesman. I don't have a fancy MBA so what do I know?

What I'm interested in seeing is if the blowback becomes fierce enough for them to reevaluate and change course.

Also - how does this compare to what V/P did years back when they yanked most people's comps? They ended up reversing in that relatively quickly.

If you have to pay for things that should be comped there goes the gambling budget. Its a comp death spiral.

This is a key point for me. And something that will come back to bite MGM. Even airlines are bringing back free snacks now ... you can't keep cutting and cutting forever. Given the allegedly massive impact on gambling revenues these players have for the casino companies, pissing them off seems to be an idiotic idea.

As an aside, I've been pretty impressed with the treatment people seem to be getting at Cosmo. I'm a small fry, mostly green chip and occasionally up to black chip on blackjack and mostly green chip craps ... I'm getting frozen out by MGM. Cosmo seems to have a hint of warmth, at least.
