Resort fees and tax are considered other not part of your per diem.

Without actually checking the rate calendars, I'd consider either Luxor or Monte Carlo. Might be tough for weekend nights to stay under that threshold, but they're usually pretty cheap during the week, and you're connected to Mandalay Bay and Aria respectively. Plus both, in my personal opinion, are nicer than the CET joints in that price range.

Yep. Signature has gobs of properties listed, and you'll see the better (and shitty) timeshares, too.

Thanks for feedback guys. I decided to go with the Hampton Inn on Tropicana... no out of pocket expenses.

Yeah casinos don't want long term patrons like that so you are better off booking regular hotel chain

Maybe Airbnb? Might have to go off strip there though. The listings I've found at mgm signature or veer towers end up costing as much as a hotel room if not more. There are a few residence inn and courtyard type places off of koval I think not far from the convention center. You might want that so you'd have a fridge, microwave, small range, etc. I used to basically live in a residence in when I traveled for work. They'd even buy groceries on my behalf and I'd just expense it like a meal. If I were in Vegas there would be no way I could eat and drink and gamble like I normally do on a Vegas trip for that long.

This place is in a rough area. I would be nervous to carry cash with me if I was staying here.

I'll second the warnings and would encourage you to reconsider. If you're talking about bringing a gambling fund, I'm assuming you're not on a total shoestring budget. I get not wanting to pay out of pocket, but if it were me, I'd rather spend the few extra bucks a night to stay somewhere a bit less stabby.
