It's cool to see other AVAs stepping up, indeed. Were any of us gaga over Santa Lucia Highlands 20 years ago? A wonderful array of wine awesomeness between the overwrought Disney-esque of some of Napa and the almond "champagnes" of Temecula.

Naw DRC is good to drink anytime.

The young ones still have so much fruit to start but then it mellows over 20-30 minutes. Still so elegant and amazingly drinkable.

It's that changeability of standout wines that adds to the joy of it all.

they restocked! this was from JR. they didn't have any last month, but they now have many La Taches and several RCs. I also picked up a 2004 Montrachet that I brought home.

I drank the last LT at Le Cirque on Friday, but they told me they have a shipment of various DRCs coming any day now. so that should be good for next trip.

but ever since I started hammering their supply, their prices have inflated severely.

the younger LTs used to be in the 3.5k-4k range. now they're at 6k and up.

I used to see RCs in the 9-10k range. now they are 12-15k and up.

That's a pretty shitty way to eat up your comps. No one is paying cash for those bottles, are they?

    I'm sure some people are.

those that are, though, don't care about the prices.
