    Schramsberg is our favorite winery and is known for their sparklings (which are fantastic) but their reds (specifically the Davies Pinots) are our absolute favorites.

    2011 vintage last night with Bucatini all'Amatricana...outstanding even if the wine was a little young

    Moderate alcohol, good acid, right on the oak; cherry and berries but no candy bombs, wee pepper and subtle smoky vanilla -- about as Burgundian as we've had from Foley in our five years up here. We grilled veal sausages and put 'em on polenta with marinara, asparagus on the side.

    2013 Brewer-Clifton Chardonnay
    2011 Ampelos Grenache

    We had a wonderfully rainy day here yesterday so I made gumbo (chicken/andouille, med-dark roux) and these wines worked well.
