Jim Clendenen does great stuff there at ABC. That's the basic model, goes for about 15 bucks around here on special, 20 shelf price (25 or so MSRP), so that's a great price. Simply meaning it's not vineyard-designate and the grapes come from somewhere or several places across the county's largest AVA. 2014 was a GREAT year overall for Pinot here. You should get a lot of berries in it.

Just a quick question and yes I know I can Google it, but prefer a human response. I know very little about wine and champagne. I will drink anything that taste good. What is the difference between champagne and prosecco? Also I like a very, very carbonated champagne on the dry side with very subtle sweetness. Any recommendations?

Bien Nacido is one of those vineyards up here. I'm not remotely as worldly as some here but I can help direct you through the Central Coast a bit. Danny Ocean knows his shit, for certain. He'd be a good sounding board.

In a nutshell, Champagne comes from Champagne, France, made in the traditional method, from one or some combo of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with secondary fermentation in the bottle and aging requirements by law. Elsewhere in France it typically is called Cremant and Spanish renditions are Cava. (To label something "Champagne" it must come from Champagne.) Prosecco is an Italian sparkler made in a vat format, very reasonably priced and is consumed young.

Check out a firm in Seattle called Fat Cork which specializes in small house Champagne and tailors shipments to your preferences. (And, yes, it is my nephew's company.)

P.S. Cremant is less "fizzy" than Champagne, and Prosecco is significantly so.
