I am not sure if I every responded in this thread but if I am repeating myself, it won't be the first time. I grew up in Central California and home of largest mass producer of wine. I probably had a skewed view of wine but as I got older I started spending more time in the better wine areas of CA. I got to be friends of a few growers / wine makers (on a small scale) and the best advice any of them gave to me is "drink what tasted good to you" ... it is easy to find a good tasting bottle of wine at $100+ but finding that rare one that at $15-20 is what is fun about trying new one. Over the last year or so, the Conundrum has been a favorite and a go to bottle, however that was the 2012. The 2013 isn't as good right now. Maybe it will get better in a few months .... so, where am I going with this .... we started looking for new ones to add to our regular drinking ...

This weekend I stopped in to Trader Joes and took a chance on new one (to me). Robert Hall - Cab - 2013 out of Paso Robles. It was very good and I was pleasantly surprised at just under $20. We will be drinking many more of those from what I can tell.

that was my contribution to this thread. Carry on.

We're having friends over for dinner on Friday. We're going to spin through a small vertical, thinking 2007-2009 Ampelos Rho Pinot, and maybe throw in a bottle of Nu from one of the years (Peter's best-barrel selection for a particular vintage, and he doesn't do it every year). Or it might be fun to do a Clos Pepe v SeaSmoke side-by-side as we have magnums of each I've been itching to open.

Friends, food ... that's when wine is the most fun.

Yes, loved it. Very tasty. We were just finishing one bottle of another brand, so V got the last glass of that, and I opened up the Foley for my glass, what a difference. Guess what happened next? We switched glasses, lol. I gave V a sip, it was over!
