Anyone had Rhys out of the Santa Cruz Mountains? Fantastic wines. Drinking their 2012 Alpine Vineyard Chardonnay tonight. Very restrained, elegant style that ages tremendously well.

And I'm surprised to say this one blew away my expectations.. One of the best <$25 bottles I've had in a long time.. For $11 a bottle I paid, this i would serve this at parties without a 2nd thought (out of a decanter ).. This blows away most of the nasty alcoholic fruit punch/kool aid, or super hot alcohol finish most wines in this price range seem to have. Plenty of $50 wine I've had that were worse than this.

 

Thanks for the note on this. I've found some pretty good value in the KS brand wines. The Cotes du Rhone is really nice and cheap as hell -- great for cooking, too, at $6.99. Also like the Champagne and Rose Champagne ...

We're testing a young and inexpensive Roth Cab with a three-pound rib eye I'm finally getting to roasting this eve. We have a StarLane -- 2009 -- waiting in the wings.
