No list on the webpage. I know some of the posters have eaten at L'Atelier. I know this maybe be a shot in the dark.

that's because all the soms at JR are complete pretentious assholes. the entire staff there is so full of themselves, it's unreal.

I went in there last year to see what kind of RC they had because the Mansion didn't have any on their list.

I talk to William, whom I know from when he was head som at Le Cirque a few years ago. he takes one look at me in my jeans and thermal shirt, unshaven, messy hair, and decides I'm either wasting his time or just not worthy of RC and he refused to sell me a bottle. so I left and called the Mansion and told them what bottle I wanted and they transferred it over and I had it that evening. I found out later they were pissed that I did that because then they didn't get credit for the wine sale since it was transferred internally. good, fuck them.

next trip I go in there with my buddy the som at Le Cirque and we're both dressed the same way - jeans, t-shirts, etc - and a different som is there. the look the entire staff gave us when they walked by was like we had just taken a shit on their carpet. at least this som was ok selling me a bottle, but after I picked one out he tried so hard to convince us that we wanted to dine there with them. I did all I could not to say to his face "fuck you and your pretentious staff, I'd rather die than eat at this shithole". finally I got him to give it up and he brought the bottle over to the Mansion where we were eating.

this last time I went in there and saw the same guy and now he knows the drill, so at least I won't have any trouble going forward.

but I'll never bother dining there again that's for sure.

It always shocks me how people make these idiotic snap judgements. It is so easy to lose business by making such judgements. In this day and age, you do not know who have real money and are just posers. I had work event last summer at Aria and the person who was wearing jeans and a ratty old t-shirt was the founder of our company, who is close to making the Forbes list. He would have been shit on just like you were.

Last night the girls drank Lincourt and Foley Chardonnay, and with the ribs I had a Stolpman 2011 La Cuadrilla, which is a cuvee done each year as chosen by the vineyard manager and his field guys. It's a cool little thing they do every year with the proceeds going to the workers. In '11 the blend was Sangio, Syrah, Grenache. (It changes yearly.) Great wine, sub-$20 cheap for club members.

I wonder if any of the big Cab drinkers have tried Penfolds Grange? Mostly Shiraz (Syrah) but very applicable to PT's meal above.
