    Tom4u,

You nailed it and you stated it in an eloquent way. We all just want to be a part of the team and feel like we are part of the team.
Being new myself, I know I have to learn patience and blend in at possibly a slower pace.

Being inclusive means the regulars also acknowledging the newbies and the newbies understanding that they are new, but welcomed, and bring your personality to the site. eventually even the newbies may even meet the regulars on a Vegas trip and share a drink and some laughs.

    Thanks tom4u....

Options. I love options. I chose this option. VB is a fun place where I can lurk and/or post. The old site got boring fast. And with that I left without name calling or bashing. I just wish I had another trip on the horizon so I'd feel more of an urge to get involved in more diacussions.

In general. These boards are communities, and a societies of sorts and we cannot let that society turn into anarchy, cause it will crumble quickly believe me. For sure is a delicate balance. As far as I'm concerned there must be some moderation (comes from the top) or at the very least shutting down a thread when the bantering gets to be personal, childish back and forth bullshit or just plain mean. I have thick skin and know this is the internet but if we want the masses here 50 or 100k followers you must imo conform don't. Ive been called "Morher Fucking Theresa" here kiddingly of course and find that funny and no big deal but some out there who want to find another Vegas board or an alternative might get offended or just turned off. I much prefer the non over enthusiastic/over zealous moderated boards like this. So keep this going but realize there are 100s of 1000s out there who are looking for/needing some moderation. Imo

When this board launched the intent was to be the Wild Wild West, that as adults we should be able to say and post anything, and deal with anything said and posted. It was an understandable -- and naive -- belief by most of the Founding Freaks. Well, as it turns out there is a line out there, different for all of us, so perhaps lines is the better concept, and when passed it can get ugly.

Just let this place grow organically over time. It seems a rather amazing start given the short time since the launch, and if people let it come, let the fun and frolic roll out rather than trying to force it, the growth curve will continue to arc upward.

I think of this site like early America.

after the war was over, everyone was happy to have their freedom, but eventually they came to realize that they would need a more formal structure in order to make it last.

but at the same time, it still took time to develop that structure.

    that's where we are now.

I think everyone realizes we need more structure and there's certain things we don't want to ever be part of this community.

I've been working with several members over the past few weeks as far as what we want things to look like in the long run and how to get there.

I've already started to implement things and will continue to do so, but it's going to continue to be a process.

it is the trolling and back and forth B.S. that needs to be curtailed. This just leads to acrimony and thread derailment.

Let's have open and frank discussions (like the gun control thread) where it is OK to have differing opinions, but we can discuss these opinions and have adult conversations without resorting to personal insults.
