I, too, feared Donnie & Marie but it's not that bad. Donnie & Marie know there are a few folks in the audience that are there against their will and make some jokes about it. They are not full of themselves. It's a good show. You'll enjoy it. (hopefully)

 

Not quite the same...but similar...

way back in the 1980s me and my (still to this day) best friend had wrangled ourselves an association with 2 girls who were slightly older than ourselves. These young ladies attended the local college while me and FriendOfFink were still in high school, so of course we felt like 2 young Hefners - especially when they would swing by the school in a car and spirit us off to fool around in a parking lot somewhere during lunch break. So one day FriendOfFink just up and splits on this girl...no warning to anybody, not even me, and we were/are like brothers. Much crying ensues and i am now getting frozen out by MY girl cause dont ya know THEY are best friends TOO. One of the weeping points is that the now jilted and spurned collegiate had just plunked down some of her own hard earned coin on a pair of tickets for her and FOF to go see Lionel Richie in concert (hmmm..perhaps his zippy exit aint so much of a mystery) ...anyway.....you can see whats coming here, right? That horrorshow is only 2 days away and I have to step up and be the enthusiastic escort cause it was MY shitbag friend who left this comely young lady in the lurch clutching her Lionel Richie tickets as tears fell upon her bodice...

So out into a rainy night i went...with the girl my best friend had just laid a dumpin' on to sit with thousands of Lionelphiles in a giant tuna can and listen to Lionel Effin Richey..there were no craps tables waiting for me..no warbling slot machines calling softly from the distant shore...not even a buzz to be copped...only the consolation that at least none of my friends would see me there, and the vague hope that MY girl would reward my loyalty and team spirit with access to her own bodice...

 

So, did you get laid?
