    From the vintagelasvegas.com website:
A 1983 photo of my early strip days.
In 1983, I had more trips to Vegas than any other year in my life (so far!), going about 12 times that year - 3 times in one month... I could always be found staying at the Stardust, or playing blackjack at one of the casinos in this photo.

Andy Gibb at the Riv! Thats classic..It is also funny that of all the hotels in that pic that you can see, circus circus is the one still around, beyond the bit of caesars we can see...

Yeah...the Westward Ho is in there too, but no sign visible in the photo... the old circuit back then was:
Stardust - Westward Ho - Slots of Fun - Circus - Riv - Stardust again - Frontier - DI - Sands
We would go to CP, Flamingo, Barbary Coast & MGM to play, but we took a cab down to that end - typically to Barbary Coast & on foot to the others from there. After Caesar's, we usually took a cab back to the Dust.

NOTE: the best poker room in Vegas back then was at the old MGM (now Bally's). Used to play that room a lot - $1/$3 or $2/$5 7-stud....and you could smoke back then! ($3 rake cap per hand!)

I always love looking at old pictures of the strip and picturing the properties that are there now.

It would be cool to have a current picture from that same vantage point and have it change back and forth showing the change..

Same here... funny thing is.. its seems like most of the old strip pictures are viewed from the North and the current ones are viewed from the south. Obviously you don't want a bunch of empty space in the pics, but its pretty interesting how its changed in that way.

I didn't start sports betting until the late-80s... but the book at the Stardust did get my very first bet...and many more over the years!
