Slots of Fun is scary and smells. I remember walking into Binions several years ago and it smelled like dead cat.

It is quite possibly the most hilarious thing in MGM's entire portfolio. The fact that they own both that place, and Bellagio, entertains me to no end. And yet the fact that they've held on to it rather than knocking it down to put in Walgreens or whatever (I'm fairly sure that it shares a gaming license with Circus Circus, so they couldn't just sell it on its own), means it has to be doing something right.

Stayed at Excal for three nights (picked by the couple we were traveling with) then three nights at Vdara. I didn't unpack at Vdara right away, I just threw my bag into the closet. When I finally opened the closet again, the unique Excalibur stank welcomed me back. It is smoke and some cleaning chemicals to mask the smoke.

Agree about Slots O' Fun as well.

The El Cortez has the worst smell of smoke, perfume, sadness and free slices of pie and blue bunny ice cream bars.

I considered Binion's, but voted (the) El Cortez for overall bouquet. I guess all the downtown properties are somewhat repulsive if you're sensitive to smoke, but they're no longer stench-central in Las Vegas.

You can find nastier conditions at many of the smaller locals casinos, and reliably at almost any Dotty's. Dotty's is what would happen if 15 of your most degenerate relatives chain-smoked inside the living room of your grandmother's mobile home.

Used to be that the eastern entrance to Golden Gate was, by far, the worst odor in all of downtown...smelled like an over-crowded horse stable...(yes, I've been in horse stables before!)...but my last few trips, they seemed to have 'fixed' whatever was causing that.

I sort of like the El Cortez smell, in a nostalgic mid-70s sort of way... it really kind of fits the atmosphere there.
Plaza has fixed their scent problem, and it's not bad at all anymore.

So - I guess I'd have to go with the Cal...as mentioned above, it does seem to have a stale odor to it when you first walk in.

Does anyone else know by the smell that they are in Vegas as soon as they walk off the plane at McCarran?

The familiar stale cigarette smoke smell is still so strong in some parts of the airport.

I voted other because the last time I was at Orleans, it had an overwhelming perfume smell and was really dirty. It's like the smell of a $20 crack whore.
