I figured it would happen...she found penny slots and (didn't expect) she won a small Jackpot on Wizard of Oz. I think she is hooked.

So I'm a craps/VP/BJ player who looks for good odds so I lose slowly and sometimes have a big win.

I know nothing about regular slots. Is there anyway to figure out which machines have better odds? Or which casinos have better odds? I want to find something she can play for a long time.

The ones with the super huge progressives are usually tighter as they have to get that $$ back somewhere..

the ones where you play a ton of lines and generally win back a portion of your bet on most every spin tend to help your money last longer.

but you have to realize most "penny" slots these days are $1-$5 per spin. it could be 40 lines at 10 per line.

If there is no way to tell the odds from the machine can I guess that downtown has better odds than the strip? Or the casino royal is better than Harras? Maybe they are not? Any machines beside VP with known odds. Just looking for a decent play.

yes, you can assume that DT or off-strip has better payouts than on the strip.

but there's no way to know for sure.

Yeah I had no idea till I watched her play. .40 cents to a couple bucks sometimes. Not exactly penny slots.

Yeah, I pretty much only max bet on pennies, no fun winning ten bucks. Can be $4-$6 a spin.

On those high variability slots, a normal line win (non-bonus round win) can sometimes pay anywhere from 50-200x your bet, so I would advise lowering your average bet compared to the old school 1-3 line slots. I think they're a fun way to fuck around and drink for cheap while wasting some time. I sometimes find myself celebrating a $20 win on those as much as a big blackjack win

The hold on the strip for penny sluts is crazy huge. It's around 12% (that's a guess from the NGCB strip revenue report). Add on some points for licensing and even more for progressive jackpots.

The more you increase the denomination, the less hold you pay. So, it really doesn't make sense to play a penny slut when you consider you can reduce the hold by 4-7% by playing $.25 or $1 sluts for the same amount per spin.

So are you saying to play a .25 at 4x instead of a .01 at 100x?
