Here's a question for you... I've always heard that the "hold" as a percentage on regular slots is higher at a place like McCarren Airport and though you can get lucky anywhere, playing at places like that should be avoided.

So on Tuesday, we hear that a local lady hit the Wheel of Fortune machine at McCarren for $933,000!!! My question... is a progressive slot like Wheel of Fortune the same anywhere you play it, since it's connected into the system?

WoF has the highest hold anywhere anytime.

I get that, but do you think it's the same everywhere? If I play it at McCarran, am I playing the same ridiculously high-hold game I'd play at Caesars or downtown at the D?

Damn, WoF really has the highest hold? I don't play a ton of HL slots, but WoF has always been my most profitable one whenever I do.

It wouldn't be far off. So much of the return is tied up in the huge jackpot.

That's my guess as well... I've always been told that, though you can get lucky anywhere, the machines at the airport are just awful. But if I'm of a mind to put a $100 in a WOF machine, sounds like I'll get the same crappy hold at each location.

I thought I heard that the huge progressive jackpots that are linked were paid by the slot manufacturer. Is that true?

Not a slot player here but looks like the airport is in this list a good amount to the relative number of slots it has.
