Great meals are plentiful when you are being comped. What restaurant would you choose to dine at out of pocket?

For me I eat at the same places regardless of comps.. If I would pay to eat there I'm not going to just because it's "free"

If I suggest a place, I've more than likely paid to eat there. Luckily when I can piggyback on generous friends, they know and love food so it's never a "food is fuel" situation. I agree with geoff, no way I'm eating something in which I'm not interested simply because it is "free."

I'm not really talking about eating at Carlos and Charlues because it's a freebie. There are so many great restaurants on the strip and the majority of them would be comped. I could have dinner at a different restaurant every night of my trip and never be disappointed. The fact that it happens to be in a casino hotel, is a bonus that it's comped.

A few years ago there was a restaurant on West Sahara......Rosemary's. It was a 30-40 drive off strip. To me, it was worth the trip.

We've been lucky over the years, not tied to a particular hotel group, and being free-range Vegas explorers and not just Strip or downtown or locals, that we've been able to partake of the great local food scene in the valley.

The one thing is when you know a meal is comped you can go a little crazier with what you order. For example, when we go to RM Seafood, we tend to be more aggressive how we order off the raw bar. Sometimes we hit a home in how we mix it up but other times we find there are somethings that we don't find as appealing.

    Todd's Unique
    Marche Bacchus
    Table 34
    Vintner Grill

Four of Vegas' still-standing "local" eats few take the time to find.

    Le Cirque
    Alize
    Delmonico
    L'Atelier
    Charlie Palmer

    To name a few.

Endo just opened one here in LA.
More upscale than Vegas I am told.
