We always taxi from the airport to the hotel. For our next trip, I thought I would surprise my wife with a limo, but I'm completely helpless on what to expect, what to pay, what to tip, etc.

It appears Presidential has an airport special rate of $160 in which they will take you to your hotel, and then pick you up for the trip home. Can anyone confirm that you get an hour for each trip? Do most folks hit a liquor store, just drive the strip, not use the full hour? Is $160 a good deal? How much should I tip the driver? Any other limo companies you would recommend?

How much are you planning to gamble? You could get one through the hotel/casino and possibly get it comped on the back end.

Agree. Get a limo from a property where you are staying and maybe have it comped on the back end. Either your host or the concierge can make arrangements for you. For Paris, it's approximately $70 in and just slightly less leaving.
A $20 tip is pretty standard. I tip a bit extra if I ask for a stop.

I have no host. My bankroll is usually only $5-6k and I may have $20k coin in on a slot. Table games I will play $10 craps, $25 pai gow and blackjack. I am staying at Caesar's next month. With no host should I still contact Caesar's?

using Presidential, a $20 tip is fine, without stops. If you include stops, I would tip a little more. I usually tip more than $20 because I know all the limo drivers that pick me up from the MGM, and if from the airport, it is about an hour of their time with waiting, luggage, etc. I usually over tip on the front end, and tip less on the way out.

I usually just pop out and grab one on the curb. Livery service is by the hour (always), so you have the limo for one hour regardless of how long you use it for.

I typically have them take me to a liquor store (of my choosing) and then to the hotel. I've let them take me to a store of their choosing before and that ended up being some overpriced place close to the strip where the driver got a kickback (walked in with us and leaned over the counter and whispered something to the clerk). I always tip $20.

If didn't do curbside, I call the hotel and have them send one over.

I would call a service like Presidential as a last resort. I've done Presidential before and it's fine.

Thing is.. curbside is less expensive and on-demand. And, I don't need to walk with the driver to go get their car. I walk out and get one. I like that the best as I don't require a sign with my name on it or a driver to lug around my bags... nor do I want to walk to the garage where he's parked.

At least with the hotel I have the option of getting it comped on the backend but I still have to endure the other crap I don't like... sign at baggage claim, walking to the garage, etc.

With Presidential, I have to have to endure everything I don't like about the experience with no way of having it comped... so it's the least desirable choice for me.

It must depend on what terminal you fly into. I always arrive at terminal 3. The taxis and hotel limos are right outside the door at baggage.

Yeah... maybe the hotel limos are... I was thinking it was the same as a limo service and I've never taken one of them. I've always just gotten curbside since the time I got a Presidential since I like that so much.

It's interesting... the first time I did it... I negotiated with the guy and got him to take me for less than their advertised price. I haven't been able to negotiate since. Either my negotiating skills suck or they really can't bargain any longer (or never could and I just got lucky).

I had great service from Presidential too, but like Unda said, do not let them pick the liquor store. My guy took us to this generic place that was so overpriced. I should have just bought stuff at the hotel giftshop.
