That is great, but also incorrect. "On average, in a much smaller sample size, you will get much more favorable results" choosing #1, then #2, and lastly #3. The idea that you're going to lose anyhow, so you should play the highest variance game is ludicrous. One extreme or the other? Huh?

The DDB player will play longer than the TDB player due to receiving 15 units rather than 10 units on 3OAK. That will stretch the buyin, thus increasing the likelihood that the DDB player will hit a quad, premium quad or Royal on a $200 buyin.

Let's not use hunches or opinions when discussing VP. There is a ton of VP strategery out there, but yours is far fetched.

haha okay, I give up Nick.

Fair enough I just hate DDB and often see such poor results with it :)

I'm with @Gaggles on this one. I like to play bartop VP and at bars I like, usually knowing a few of the bartenders. I play to have fun, get drunk and hopefully hit some premium hands. I like CET because I can get free rooms without issue, but the downgrade of their bartops has me playing at TAG or on the floor a lot of the time now.

It's all good. I actually like TDB and I'm starting to play more of it. Bottom line is that VP is the way to fly if you're playing machines. Slots are the devil. I love craps and 21, but VP is a great, great game.

And to follow on what nick wrote ... we all have anecdotal "evidence" that given the human psyche we want to translate into something understandable and predictable. It's a protection mechanism. It's also a reward mechanism. Let's just not take it for fact or logic. Not much has changed since the days of Neanderthal v. early human as far as our superstitions. At the end of it all it is supposed to be a recreation and we gotta like how we recreate or there really is no purpose to it.

Since I pretty much switched to VP exclusively, I have won more trips than not and only once, lost my entire bankroll. My game is DDB but recently I've been increasingly been playing deuces as well.

It was a struggle, but I've weaned several family members off of slots and redirected the bulk of their play to DDB. Similar results as yours. The bottom line is that Vegas slots are mostly in the 80% to 95% payback range, with the entertaining "penny" (multi line video) slots really being cash burners. Even bad VP is at 95% or better, so it's a win-win situation. I'll still play slots from time to time, but psychologically I know that 9/5 or 9/6 DDB is the "smart stupid" way of wasting my money.

I guess the argument could be made to exclusively play 3 reel double diamonds and blazing 7's games which have higher paybacks, but does anyone really play 3 reel slots over an entire trip anymore?

Recently, I was at Harrah's in New Orleans and hit 3's with a kicker. When the meter passed the $200 and kept rising I realized I had been playing TDB instead of DDB by mistake. A nice mistake!

But math will be math and it was basically a make up from a few years ago when I thought I was playing DDB and hit aces kicker only to find the game was on BP.

I had this happen to me in Laughlin when I was with Macker. I thought I was on DDBP and I got aces with the kicker. He is just a a few feet away. After 2000 Credits things kept rising. I called him over to ask WTF as it had rolled up to 4000 credits. Best mistake ever. I have not had aces with a kicker on that game since.

When I am playing Ult X I play BP. I split my other VP games into 50% BP, 30% DDBP, 10% TDBP, 10% DW. Every now and then I dip my toe into TDBP+ or something like that? Macker told me to play it so of course, I did. I hat quad 2s w kicker within 5 minutes last trip.
