I am just leaving on the Cotai Water Jet ferry from Kowloon Hong Kong Harbor for two nights at the Galaxy Macau. The ferry takes about one hour.

First Class on the Cotai Water Jet ferry was definitely worth the extra US$15 (thanks for the tip @rycelover).

Hong Kong was hazy with pollution today, so glad to be leaving

Will try to update as much as possible. So calling this a semi-live report.

Bankroll is around HK$74,000 (approx US$9,500). Small bankroll. Let's see if I can do anything with it. May or may not gamble too much.

Went to HSBC bank in HK to exchange USD to HKD. Was told they wouldn't currency exchange if I am not a customer. Went down the street to Wing Lung bank and had no problem with exchange. Got good rate of 7.728 HKD for 1 USD, less HKD40 fee (around US$5)

Feel free to ask questions about Macau and I'll see if I can get you some answers (if I have the time or opportunity).

If you are interested in Macau, go to MacauTripping.com and listen to the podcast that Chuck, Hunter, and John put together over the last few months and culminating with their trip to Macau two weeks ago.

This isn't the smoothest riding vessel. More equivalent to the France to UK ferry than a cruise ship. You can feel the swells.

The heat and humidity in this part of Asia is so thick you can cut it with a knife. There is such a contrast between being outdoors and hot and sweaty and getting a blast of really cold A/C when you walk by a store that has its door open.

Macau Cotai from the ferry. The new Wynn Palace (opens next month) is the second building from the left with the gold windows and white top. The building on the left is probably the new MGM Cotai that is still under construction.

So it was a quick and painless 10 minute ride to the Galaxy Hotel. Have been very impressed so far by the level of service. Got a standard king non-smoking room on the 22nd floor.

I have the residential building view to the north and a very partial view to the east of the Venetian and the City of Dreams.
