since there were so many Live trip reports going on this past weekend, I figured I would just post a quick recap of my weekend. I didn't figure I would have enough time to keep up with a live report and do it justice. My wife joined me this trip as the main focus of the getaway was celebrating our 23rd Anniversary, as well as participating in the Wynn Invitational Golf tourney that was held on Friday, April 22nd. Just so turns out that this was also the same weekend as the UFC, Raffle trip, and a lot of other VB'ers being in town at the same time!

I stayed at the Wynn / Encore this time since the golf tourney was being held there. We usually stay there once a year as a break from the MGM. We stay at the MGM upwards of 12 times a year, so it was nice to take a break and stay and eat somewhere diffferent. We like to stay on the Encore side since it is a lot quieter there and less crowded. We stayed in a Salon Suite on floor 56, with the Strip view looking back up towards the Mirage.

My wife and I flew in separately on Thursday since I had to be there earlier for the golf reception, meet and greet, and cocktail party. They held the reception at Tableau on the Wynn side, and had lots of hors de ouevres, open bar, cigars, crab legs, etc. I didn't eat anything since we had dinner scheduled for later, but drank my fill of the nice wine that they were pouring at the bar, as well as grabbing a few nice hand rolled cigars for the golf bag for the next day. They had a lot of nice small gift bag items, but the main giveaway for the golf tournament was 2 Callaway wedges, that they monogrammed / imprinted with your initials, and you had your choice of what color you wanted the imprint to be as well. Roger Cleveland was there (golf wedge guru), and since Wynn is a Callaway house, most of the gift items were Callaway related.

So my wife was still not due to arrive for a couple more hours, so I figured it would be a good time to get some gambool in. I found the one craps table in the entire joint that still had the 3-4-5x odds (it was in the old host area), and I was the only player at the table. Bought in for $10k, and really couldn't get much going. Was trending down, and no real good rolls going, so I switched to the dark side and eventually got my initial buy-in back + $2000 winner. Was getting bored, so figured a good time to switch to BJ. Went into the Wynn HL room, and had my choice of empty BJ tables. On a Thursday night, I was surprised to see that all the HL BJ games were at $100 minimum. Bought in for $30k, and started with 3 hands at $1500 each. Good news was that my first 9 hands were all double downs! Bad news is that I lost all of them! Not a good start! Dealer was pulling such bullshit out of thin air it was unbelievable!

Oops, dinner time - to be continued!

So, the BJ started bad since I lost my first 9 hands at $3k each. Another marker! Now the dealer starts on a Blackjack run! By the end of this session, the dealer had Blackjack 12 times, and I did not get a single one! I really dislike the automatic shuffle machines for BJ, I prefer the old school dealer hand shuffle. Just seems (conspiracy theory!) that with the machine doing all the shuffling, that the dealers just always seem to get better hands or the exact card they need. Don't know why and I know it was due to me losing so quickly, but just got this odd feeling. I asked for and the pit agreed to allow the dealer to shuffle. I know Nate, Shifter, Tellafriend and a few others have said previously that they just cannot win at the Wynn?! so, long story short, I was there 45 minutes and blew through my entire credit line. I have literally NEVER lost so much so quickly at BJ. Between missing all the double downs and the dealer pulling Blackjack every other hand, it was unnerving to say the least.

Contacted my host and got a TTO. Also have never had to contact my host so quickly for a trip TTO after just arriving. My wife was due to arrive in the limo from the airport, so I met her and went up to the room briefly and then on to dinner at La Cave. Since it was late, we did not want to eat a big dinner that late at night, so we just shared a few small plates and a nice bottle of wine. It was a great meal, but it was crowded in there and pretty loud.

I unequivocally refuse to play bj with an auto shuffle machine. No exceptions. You can't beat them.

So after dinner, my wife likes to roll the dice so we hit up the craps table in the HL area. We were the only ones there again and it is like 11 pm, so it was pretty weird to be so empty at that time of night. We played for about an hour, and she hit the ATS, and hit some good hardways, so by the time we called it quits we ended up winning $20k on that session. It was good to get some of the previous losses back, even though it was a small dent. It was the end of a long day for us, so we had another drink at the Eastside bar, and then hit the sack.

    Friday - to be continued

it is not the continuous shufflers like on the low limit games, it is the auto shuffle like on the carnival games (just so I was clear in how I described this)[/QUOTE]

Wynn will hand shuffle if you ask in HL. I hate the shufflers also

I did ask eventually, figured it couldn't hurt, I should have (and now I know) to ask right out of the gate

We're talking auto shuffle, not continuous shuffle, right? I much prefer the auto shuffle over the hand shuffle as I absolutely hate waiting for the multi deck hand shuffle that seems to take forever.
