So I've been going to Vegas a lot the past two years. Mostly because of some new friends and Vegas gave a big push with promos and give gifts.

Now I've had just a little too much fun and Vegas and think I need a to step back.

Here is my question is Vegas vs other Casino Locations.

I've gone to AC once and was not too impressed. Atlantis on Paradise island is nice but it is only once casino and one resort. Nice beach but you can only go so many times.

All the places in between ( Foxwood, Mohegan Sun, to Ricon and Pechanga from Florida to Washing state. There is casinos in almost every state. (EXCEPT Texas needs to have Casinos but it will never happen)

So the question is Vegas is the go to or do you think the others count? Reason I ask is I'm taking a break from Vegas. Mostly because I have way too much fun in Vegas, and though I need to take a break from VEGAS. NOT a break from Gambling. I'm still hitting the local if you count a 1 to 3 hour drive local.

    so Vegas vs other locations

    1. is the local casinos enough to get the gambling fix?
    2. are other locations just as nice or is Vegas the place?
    3. Food and hotel?
    4. Service and entertainment?
    5 gambling Limits?
    6 Drinking and acting crazy.
    7. Things to do and see

I'll use my local as an example for Local ( Winstar, Choctaw and Shreveport)
1 for the gambling is fine at Shreveport but the Ante and low limits suck at OK.
    2. NO they suck nothing to see or do
3 No good food and OK hotel
4 good shows they bring in so that is ok and good host
5 Low limits in Ok but Better odds and limits in Shreveport ( for posted)
6 Drinks are free in Shreveport but have to buy in OK and not really acting crazy
    7. Nothing to do or see except gamble.

I think i answer my own question is go to Vegas to party but gamble in Shreveport.

    What are your takes?

I'm local to Mohegan sun/ Foxwoods but usually go to mohegan
1)yes I can get my gamble on for sure. In fact the bj rules are better than most of Vegas. No double deck bj though.

    2) Mohegan is certainly more resort/Vegas like than nearly all tribal gaming. A little smoky compared to Wynn but not as bad as some Vegas places. Fairly clean for the most part.

    3) food is pretty good and hotel is ok. Once again not quite Wynn quality but better than many of the lower tier Vegas casinos

    4) service isn't nearly as good as Wynn dealers are not as friendly or proficient for the most part. Entertainment is pretty good and easy to get comps

    5) gambling limits are no issue. Way higher than I plan to play (and that's just on the floor, never mind private gaming)

    6) booze flows pretty freely,on the main floor not the quality or speed of Wynn. But not bad in the high limit. Easy to get into the VIP lounges which also have a quite good selection of booze.

    7) things to do is not as much as Vegas for sure..

Now, this sounds like I'm pretty high in my local gaming but I've been thinking recently I might take a break for a while. I just don't have as much fun. If it was just about the gaming it's a no brainer to stay local but I think I'd rather save the budget for 4-5 afternoon trips locally and hit Vegas even paying for the flight and travel.

Now compared to anything but the very high end of Vegas id say is rather go to Mohegan, but something about the overall experience at Wynn (or perhaps one of the other high end places, but I usually stay at Wynn) keeps drawing me back

The atmosphere is totally different in LV versus locals. As nice as Lauberge and Golden Nugget in Lake Charles are, I wouldn't want to spend more than a day or so there. The variety of gambling, bars, food, etc just can't be matched compared to Las Vegas. Let's say I'm getting destroyed gambling and I need to take a breather. There isn't much in lake Charles for me to distract myself with. Plus there isn't much competition so the minimums are kind of high for a locals place. I like to be less aggressive when here as opposed to Las Vegas.

I can't do much gambling in Shreveport as its "home" for me since its where I was born and raised.

There is good food in Shreveport but it isn't in the casinos. But you could get just as good food in dfw at a normal restaurant. A lot of my favorites in Shreveport are for sentimental reasons or they're local traditions. Strawn's for breakfast, Ferrier's Rollin in the Dough, Southern Classic Fried Chicken, Southern Maid Donuts, Blind Tiger.

The Casino restaurants are not good. Think you are right there are some nicer places to eat in Shreveport just not at the casino.

Most all of my family lives in and around Dallas and I've been to Shreveport. This was years ago... probably 10 or so... and I remember thinking it sucked.

My "local" is now the Horseshoe in Baltimore
    1. No. The casino sucks ass. I much prefer AC for a simple gambling fix.
    2. I like Vegas much more.
    3. Decent at Borgata in AC. Much better in Vegas otherwise.
    4. Much better in Vegas
5 Just as good in AC as it is in Vegas (for me)
6 Not at the local. Drinking and partying in Vegas the best. Nothing comes close.
    7. Definitely Vegas.

Yes. I've been waiting for this. Supposed to be open before the end of the year. I'm planning to christen that bad boy around Christmastime.

Slow down! I need the place to stay open longer than a weekend!

I'm pretty sure this will be the new standard for the area and be just as good as Borgata in AC... negating the need to drive 3.5 hours to AC to get a decent gamble. The Horseshoe blows. I haven't been Hollywood in Charlestown, but I would assume it's the same high house advantage and crappy gamble they have everywhere.

Seriously, the only reason I'd go back to AC after MGM opens... is sports betting. Otherwise, sayonara.
