a lot of hype surrounding this fight. hopefully it lives up to expectations. I can't say the McG v Aldo fight really did. I mean, sure it was impressive, but it wasn't very entertaining. hopefully this one goes a little longer and we can see some action.

McGregor has backed up everything he's ever said, but this guy is a lot bigger than he is. going to be interesting to see how he does when he gets rocked from a few big punches. we all saw what happened to Rousey when she finally ate some real leather. it doesn't matter who you are, it can get you completely off your game.

I can't say I have any interest in seeing Holm v. Tate. if Tate wins, she's the champ? really? she was destroyed by Rousey and will be again later this year. she has nothing that can beat her. if Holm wins it doesn't really say anything as, again, Tate was already destroyed by Rousey. so basically we just have to wait to see the only interesting fight in the division - Holm v Rousey rematch.

and after that, the rest of the card doesn't look like much at all. a bunch of journeymen fighting up-and-comers trying to prove themselves and other has-beens just fighting to keep their contracts. I mean there isn't even a single other top-10 ranked fighter on the card.

    but I'll still be there.

Shifter, you are right, after the main event really nothing to interest me. I do wanna see McGregor get knocked out. I used to love the UFC, but it's becoming more like the WWE. Last one I saw live was 167...Hendricks vs GSP. That was a solid card!

I will be landing in Vegas the day of this fight. Wanted to get tickets, but my two buddies weren't too excited about spending the $$$ for them. Thinking about going solo. Anyone tried buying tickets the night of the fight?

No but there'll definitely be guys wandering around with tickets. Just depends on the prices. If you wait until 8 or 830 you can probably find a good deal since they're unlikely to sell them after that. But of course you'll miss most of the fights that way.

I was there for the aldo McGregor fight and just a fair warning, singles are the most popular ticket. It's not like a normal event where picking up a single gets you a deal, there will be 5000 single Irish dudes looking for tickets also!

McGregor is a guy that's easy to root against, a lot like Cam Newton in the Super Bowl. He has a mouth on him that is unparalleled. I thought he looked nervous in his last fight but that quick knockout of one of the scariest fighters in the world left my jaw on the floor. My brain tells me RDA will wreck him, but honestly nothing will surprise me in this fight. Holm versus Tate should be a war. Tate is a great fighter and should have beaten RR. What Holm did to Rousey was impressive, but RR is one dimensional and could have lost many of her previous fights if the fighters had better game plans. Female MMA reminds me a lot of the early UFC when the fighters' training isn't on the same level. There are very few female well rounded fighters out there. Holm easily has the best striking in female MMA, but Tate is an all around fighter with a ton of heart. I think this fight should be entertaining.

    I'm picking RDA and Tate.

I think part of their problem is the greed. The Reebok deal and the desire to put on a fight almost weekly has really diluted the product. Lots of no names on the card fighting for peanuts. The best thing about the UFC used to be that the best fighters were fighting each other on every card. It set it apart from boxing. Now with so many fights being put on, it's starting to feel a lot more like boxing where the fights are only there to build anticipation for the next fight. There are still some fighters I really like watching though. Anthony Johnson, Dos Anjos, Gustafson, Aldo and pretty much everyone who fights at 170. They never really have a boring fight. It also sounds like BJ Penn wants to come back. I would love to see him have Robbie Lawler type resurgence.

I think RDA will beat McGregor rather easily unless he pull an Aldo and get baited into a street fight. McGregor cannot handle RDA physically and if RDA gets him down it should be a short night. I believe RDA gets in his face keeps him backing up and submits him round 2.

I think with TATE/HOLM it has the potential to be a snooze fest like Holm's first two UFC fights. She basically controlled distance and sparred the girls to sleep without taking any risk or delivering any big shots. I believe Tate will try to push the pace but just can't physically stand up to Holm. On the other hand Holm may be forced to brawl it out with Tate as Tate has a ton of dawg in her!

Just read RDA broke his foot and has withdrawn from the fight.

Yep just found out this morning.

The injury bug has been brutal this year in the UFC. Really hurts this card especially. No way McGregor puts his belt/legacy on the line to fight someone else with 1.5 weeks notice. Too much risk. He's on track to be the biggest UFC star in history and a bad loss would derail everything.

So that leaves Holm Tate as the main event with a bunch of journeymen and up and comers. Damn.
