Last trip was the first time using either of these, in any city. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service from both. Without sounding like a complete asshole, I must say I was getting tired of cab drivers, mostly the foreigner ones trying to long haul my ass, then try to justify it too me like I'm a retarded tourist when I call them on it. Usually when they find out I've been to Vegas 40+ times they usually shut the fuck up and take me the route I want. That and the incessant whining when they don't think the fare is long enough. Oh I'm sorry my fat, drunk ass does not want to walk to MGM from Ballys, just fucking drive me there.

Okay, I am literally flaming my own thread...The point I am getting at was how much more I enjoyed Lyft and Uber when compared to cabs. All the drivers we had were courtesy, their vehicles were clean and half the time we got a luxury car like a Mercedes or a BMW. The longest I waited was 5 minutes and that was 11:30PM on a Thursday. The normal wait was 2 minutes tops and a couple of times they were already waiting at the Uber/Lyft pick up points. It was also close to half the price of cabs and everything bills directly to your credit card. With Uber I got the first ride up to $22 free and based on advice I had read on a trip report, I download Lyft in Vegas, then signed up. In doing so I received $10 off of my first 5 rides.

I would highly recommend using either. I think I will testing out airport pick up in 13 days as we will be arriving at 7PM on a Friday, so the cab line may be a cluster fuck. The only downside I found was trying to find the pick up points as the taxi and valet guys weren't over eager to point you in the right direction. Not that I can blame them though as these services would cut into their tips.

The airport is on a different level than the cab line as far as I know. From the info I've seen on it, it appears the elevator down is the easiest way as it has ride sharing pick up area marked by the button. I will update in 13 days if I end up using Uber or Lyft when I arrive. May just book a limo for the wife and I, see how it goes.

The signage is pretty good for "ride sharing". I used Uber from the airport a couple weeks ago and it was nice and easy except for all the traffic from them filming the Bourne movie.

My favorite part of both Uber and Lyft is that you don't have to mess around with cash/credit cards. It's all paid through the app and you don't even need to tip. Makes life so much easier to be able to just jump out when you get where you're going.

I figure they still deserve a tip it is Vegas after all. Reward a clean car and being a cool driver earns a tip every time from me

Wife and I just started using Uber locally - it's brilliant. Can't wait to use it on my next Vegas trip.

Uber crushes taxis and will put them out of business. I have yet to use them on a Vegas trip. As an aside... in cities where Uber is not allowed at the airport. You can set you pick up "pin" just outside the airport area and once a rider is assigned to you then you can text the driver and tell him you are actually at the airport.

I am looking forward to trying Uber/Lyft on my upcoming trip. As others have mentioned I am done arguing with cab drivers on what routes to take.

If you want to start a thread with the ones you did find I'll sticky it and we can keep it updated as more places are added.

Interesting cross they get a gps on the route and the company contacts them if they fuck around, going too far off it, for too long and apparently contact you as well.
