I can't figure out how to get a link into Tapatalk, but management has announced that they're planning to shut down after Labor Day. They're blaming the strike, but that place has been a wreck for years now.

The place is a cave, I bet the workers and management at Bally's are breathing a sigh of relief.

I thought the head honcho from the trop took it over to try and keep it going and to do a remodel

Carl Ichan owns the Tropicana bought up the debt from Trump Entertainment Resorts and became the owner, he pledged a $100 million makover. But State Senate President Steve Sweeney and the representatives in North Jersey wanted to put casinos in Secaucus and Jersey City. There will be a referendum on the ballot in November so the voters will decide. Ichan wanted to wait it out before committing funds to a remodel.

South Jersey is the Garden State but North Jersey is one of the most densely populated areas of the country and has more voters, so it could pass. Lots of temporary Union construction jobs and that's what Sweeney wants. He will probably be the next Governor.

The labor contract ran out in July and the only casino that didn't get an agreement was the Taj, so the workers went out on strike.

I state here and now, 100%, North Jersey will put the nail in the coffin in AC if it passes. 90% of all the players are regulars from North jersey if they don't go to Phila now with the opening of gaming in PA the past few years. All IMO.

Unless AC can really re-make itself into what it should have done years ago. Kick everyone out of the island and make it a mini Vegas, but as we all know, that won't happen now.

And that was what killed them. For years they insisted that they didn't need anything other than gambling, even as they became surrounded by casinos in other states. Vegas resorts make less than 40% of their revenue on gambling, but AC was almost all gambling, yet kept acting like they could maintain that.

They are done, their days are numbered, A few places will survive, like The Tropicana, The Borgata, The Golden Nugget and C.P., maybe Bally's. They better put some reinvestment into the area real quick and more than some additional outlet shops. I went there from 1980 to 2000 I lived nearby, I know what it is.
