Then I went back to HL slots and hit a spin on $25 WoF. Anything but $625, please! $625. Dammit, keep going. Hit another spin a few plays later. Then put $100 in Top Dollar and hit $1400 more.

    How'd you end up?

We were there this weekend and all over the place. Never bumped into you though. We had a great time, looks like you did too?

    Safe travels home!

Sure did. We didn't spend too much time at Cosmo, mostly across the street at PH. I had some big swings (for me) the last 24 hours, but the big wins offset most of the smaller, $200-$400 losses so I actually ended up within a few hundred dollars of even, which I can live with.

Thanks! I wish I wouldn't be sacrificing some of my winnings when Uncle Sam comes calling next April, but what can you do?

Happy you enjoyed it. Met up with some nasty snow about 2 miles from home at 1AM, but at least with an hour trip home from the airport, it wasn't the whole way.

I wanted to do a quick write up concerning the ins and outs of our day at the Grand Canyon, simply for general information.

We pre-booked online with Grand Canyon tours for the South Rim tour, which was $75/pp. We then received an e-mail with the confirmation, and a request to call an office number to confirm when we arrived in Las Vegas, as well as our hotel and room number. We were to be picked up at Planet Hollywood at 6:05 AM.

At 4:45 AM, the tour company gave us a wake up/confirmation call, and a coach bus picked us up at about 6:10. It had already stopped at two or three other casinos, and we had three more stops to make before we were taken to the office/collection area.

At this point we all got off the bus and were offered various upgrade options to personal jeep tours, helicopter tours, IMAX movie, etc. In addition, we could switch to the shorter, closer West Rim tour for no additional price (the West Rim tour is usually more expensive, and will have you back at your hotel around 6:00 PM). After deciding to stick with the South Rim tour, we were given the option of purchasing some snacks, drinks, and breakfast items before boarding another bus for a 7:30 AM departure.

During the bus ride, there is an automated recording which will give you some information about the tour. In addition, the bus driver will give you information about stops, time limits, food, etc.

Our first stop was at Hoover Dam, where we were given about 15-20 minutes to climb about 6 flights of stairs to view the dam from the highway bypass above. It's very windy, hold on to your belongings.

Next was about a 90 minute drive to Kingman, AZ. Here the bus stopped at a McDonald's where you could use the restroom or purchase additional food. This is another 15 minute stop.

Continuing on, the next leg to the National Geographic Grand Canyon Center is 2.5 hours. During this time, the movie "Jumanji" was shown on the bus. After that was about a 30 minute video about the Grand Canyon. Here we spent about 90 minutes eating a free lunch and looking around the gift shop. Those who purchased IMAX tickets were shown to a theater for a 30 minute film. Everyone else had to wait for that to finish before we moved on. Lunch was pretty good, there were many options from hot dog/mac and cheese combo, to cold sandwiches, to Asian meat and rice dishes, to personal pan pizzas.

Back on the bus, and a short 5 mile drive to the Grand Canyon observation areas. At the first stop we were given 45 minutes to peruse the rim. Back to the bus, travel a couple more miles to the west, and we were dropped off at another observation area for about 75 minutes.

The bus left for Vegas at 5:30 PM local time (Arizona does not use Daylight Savings Time). We stopped again in Kingman for a restroom break at a convenience store with a Subway restaurant inside. The bus also filled up with gas during our stop. During the trip back, the bus was shown the movie "Fun With Dick and Jane" right after showing the Terry Fator ventriloquist show from the Mirage.

Upon return to Vegas, the bus made a quick stop south of the Strip to drop half the passengers to another commuter bus to expedite hotel returns. We returned to Planet Hollywood at 10:00 PM.
