I would probably do this if you think it'd work.

I don't really travel for work (and if I did it'd be on my work amex anyway), but we have the marriott card and use it for everything. It's a nice metal card too ;) Just remember, I'm pretty sure there is an annual fee, but you also get an automatic free night annually.

I'd put the hotel spend on the Marriott card or the Citi Prestige (3x on travel). May not be useful to you since neither Marriott or WN are transfer partners. Chase Sapphire Preferred might be of interest too.

The other benefit is if you run out of need for the Marriott card in the future you can easily transfer the credit limit to another Chase card before you close it. And combining limits with Chase is the best way to increase a card as they can be so stingy with increases.

If you aren't already marriott platinum, see if you can do a platinum challenge. I don't know if they do them anymore but you can earn platinum status quicker. It's so many stays in a few months (I want to say something like 6 in 3, but I really don't remember, been a few years)

If you have any status as Hilton Marriott will match your status. Actually seems like a lot of hotels are matching status lately. Also I believe Marriott is partners with United and you can exchange points for miles and vice versa I believe. I'm not sure how the conversion is as we use our Marriott card for personal and United business card for business.

They don't easily offer the Platinum Challenge anymore. They don't status match to Platinum from competitor programs either unless you have the same number of stays/nights. Much harder nowadays... good thing is there's no major difference in terms of benefits between Gold and Platinum.
