It's hard to describe to someone not from here how much Peyton means to Indianapolis. Before he came along the Colts were a joke and were on the verge of leaving the city. When he showed up the organization did a complete 180 and the city followed suit. He's the reason we have a new stadium and the reason for so many other great things here. When the Colts gained prominence the spirit of the city grew at an incredible rate. We have the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, the PeyBack Foundation, and so much more.

The memories I have of him playing are among those I will cherish forever. I can't imagine an athlete meaning more to a city than Peyton does to Indianapolis. A lot of our supposed fans didn't want him to be successful in Denver. But he deserved it more than anyone. There's never been a harder worker or someone who loved the game more.

I was always a fan while he was in Indy and happy we had him in Denver.

His number will be retired in Indy but it should be in both cities, he deserves it.

Btw, my aunts fiancée is now a defensive coach in Indy, came from the NYG and they just moved there.

No doubt! Hell, the triple A Indians were probably a bigger draw than the Colts before he came to town.

I couldn't be happier that he could ride off into the sunset with another ring.

That's too cool. I've been trying to get a job in the front office for years...no dice.

It's just so rare to retire a number in the NFL because there are so many players. But I know they're putting him in their ring of honor so that's cool too.

Peyton Manning is one of the all time greats, if not the greatest QB ever. As a Patriots fan, we got to watch Peyton play the Pats a lot over his great career, and I've personally always had great respect for him as a QB. There is no doubt he and Belichick would have gotten along fabulously. It sound like Peyton also gave a lot back to his community in Indianapolis, which is awesome. Congratulations to him on a great and winning career.
