    Trips to Vegas:

    UK based Vegas fan/fanatic who i am ashamed to say found this forum really late but have loved catching up with all the TR's, recommendations, red jackets, Italian dough based food & SREB conversations and "other" stuff.
    Currently on about 20 visits coming over 3 times or so a year solo, a relative minnow compared to some whales here with approx $5k (but growing) a trip BR (usually 4 or 5 days in casinos and a road trip).

    Just came back from a slightly different trip where I had a Vegas virgin with me for a couple of days so thought (if OK seeing as no history here) might post my thoughts and kind of introduce myself with a view to contributing/getting more out of this brilliant forum- back in mid October for a week where if this is not pelted with imaginary fruit I might try a live one.....

    A tenuous new business opportunity presented itself in San Fran and although not much chance of it happening, a business expense return flight to the West Coast seemed to good to miss. My AD came with me and she decided that prior to her going on a mostly free holiday to the US she would joinn me road tripping to Vegas and staying for a couple of days before heading to catch up with family in New York.

    Wrong forum for the trip from SF but Jesus that drive over 2 days via Yosemite Tioga Pass and Death Valley will stay with me for a while; amazing... anyway we, as planned, eventually drive in (a week last Friday) late enough that my colleague gets her first taste of the Strip as we come in from Tropicana from the 15 and take a left at NYNY; even though we are headed to Cosmo i drive/crawl all the way to the Strat, back to the sign and then to Harmon - my colleague's job is sales and client accounts and is Irish and does not stop talking but that was the first time I have never heard a word out of her for 30 minutes since I interviewed her. Once checked in (Terrace Studio for me) we head out and i had reserved table at Skyfall/Mix which is where i believe everyone should have their first drink in Vegas (although preferably early enough to watch sunset). After that we just walked from MB to the fountains just basically being a tourist which I haven't done in 5+ years really and it was a blast. Over next day and night had done DT, Strat and Eiffel, Love (was great to see that again, seemed to me they have updated/changed slightly since last time) and dinner at SW just because i knew she would get a kick out of Wonderful world and the steak. With that and visiting nearly every casino all in all it was such fun to see someone experinece it for the first time even if a little exhausting and although she is great company I still looked forward to her continuing her hols so mine could start in earnest.

    I play BJ mainly, try to stay on strip for vibe as long as can find decent non 6/5 table (although i will sit down at a 6/5 if it looks like the table is full of interesting/possibly single ladies - it did work once)
    This trip was 4 days of pain losing pretty much my $1k a night which was more expensive than usual thanks to exchange rate and our politics back home. On the 5th night one run at a table at Paris with the best crowd and dealer (and as early 3/2 table) and won about half of that back so ended up[ losing only half my BR which I can live with.
    Other highlights; watching football (soccer) in the Cosmo sports book with a bunch of other Brits - 2 and a half hours of trading insults about various peoples allegiances and then heading to Marquee day club with them (not a bungaloo though). Great lunch at SushiSamba especially the squid and a dinner at Gordon Ramsey - i actually have no issue eating solo and think of it as one of life's great luxuries. Apart from that, gamble, pool, read books and repeat whilst drinking, for me at least, too much while generally reveling in being in the place that is as far from real life as possible (which is why we come right?).

    I will mention something asI saw someone asked in another part of the forum although this will stay PG here;
    I met up with a couple of people on Tinder, both were genuine; one a Vegas native and we had fun and may hook up again in October and one visiting lady from SF. I think if you are looking within my kind of age group (35) then there are definitely people on there that are for real.

    The road trip back was at first a relatively boring drive across to Morro Bay, but that and the rock was great and so then was the PCH back up to SF and home.

    Anyway dont want to outstay my welcome and hope to contribute further in the future.

    I am sure that I can dig one up somewhere.............:D

    My son joined the Boy Scouts when he was 11 yrs old, and made Eagle Scout just before he turned 15. We enjoy hiking and the outdoors, so we still stay involved even after he aged out when he was 18. We both went through the Scoutmaster training, and we are Asst. Scoutmasters (not enough time to be the full Scoutmaster), and we are the Outdoor Program Coordinators - so we put together the outdoor plans and activities for the year. We want to give back and help boys find a way to enjoy Scouting and help keep Scouting strong in our community. I must say we have had some really remarkable young men come through the program and turn into great young Adults!!

    Great report/recap. Fun that you were able to experience things though a first time visitor's eyes. Hope variance falls your way next trip!
