I'm pretty sure I didn't miss any and not knowing any better I didn't think that there was anything unusual about the frequency. It was hitting for others and I was happy for them!

I found the probability table for this...ignore the pay schedule, as 8-7-4 seems common.

    Probability Payout
    Royal Flush .0032% (1 in 31,250) 50 to 1
    Straight Flush .0279% (1 in 3,584) 40 to 1
    4 of a Kind .168% (1 in 595) 20 to 1
    Full House 2.596% (1 in 38.5) 7 to 1
    Flush 3.03% (1 in 33) 6 to 1
    Straight 4.62% (1 in 21.6) 5 to 1
    3 of a Kind 4.83% (1 in 20.7) 3 to 1

So - if you ignore the 4 of a kind and better, you would hit either trips, straight, flush or full-house 15.076% of the time... 1-in-7 = 14.286%.
    So, I was close, anyway... 1-in-6 = 16.667%

Agree that it can definitely come in runs...was in Vegas last weekend, and had a couple sessions with rare hits that im sure I was overall down on the trips bet.

Then I sat down for a session and was on fire, in course of 60-90 minutes I hit 5-6 full houses, couple of straights, and quads twice, with occasional trips thrown in. Flat betting at 20/20/10, I bought in $400 and cashed out $3000. Of course, that's not a typical session by any means though...

What a whirlwind day playing UTH and BJ... one particular UTH hand of note was me opening up with a $300 play bet holding 10Js. Flop was 8d 5h 10d. Turn and river was 5s 9d. I knew I had four to a flush on the flip so when I saw the 9d, I was feeling good bc I had a flush. Then it dawned on me that I hit a straight flush!

Since I didn't play the trips bet, I didn't hit that but did get the 50-1 blind bet for a cool $3750. Total win over $4k. Very cool feeling.

That win coupled with a nice clawback at BJ, where I was down $6k but went on a serious run including hitting a couple of nice double downs, putting me in the black for a tidy profit of $6k+ total.

Ryce... if you're in Vegas this upcoming February (21-24), let me know!
I'll even make a rare appearance on the strip if it's to meet up at a UTH table!
    Great hit!
Protect that win for Vegas...go easy for your AC birthday trip.

UTH is an easy game to learn and there isn't much to the betting. I'll play with you in November. I played a bit of UTH in early October and I'm liking the game again.

So - you're not using the Shackleford/WoO strategy?
    K-5 unsuited, K-any suited
    Q-8 unsuited, Q-6 suited

What is the reasoning behind the more conservative play reflected on your chart?

I did at first but realized quickly that - for me- I wasn't hitting them often enough to justifying putting up $15 + $5 (for progressive jackpot) on each hand. I calculated that I saved several thousands of dollars this weekend by not playing that trips bet.

Hitting that SF cost me $600 in trips bonus but I would have shelled out several time that amount over the course of my sessions.

Others swear by that bet and I'm happy for them when they hit it. But for me, I can't ignore the math.
