Agree with @topcard here. Fun game, high variance, and more things going on than in blackjack. Haven't yet purchased the Grossjean strategy card, which is supposed to be harder to remember (but is written down) than the Wizard's strategy.

Played this for the first time tonight at Caesars in AC. Needed about three hands to get acclimated to the flow of the game. Played at a $10 table; started with $15 in ante and blind bets but eventually bumped it up to $25 then $30 then $50 and $15 on trips. Had fun mostly due to lively drunk table mates. $1k buy in lasted four hours and colored up with $1800.

Pit critter wasn't paying attention and had me rated at $15 the entire time! Had to plead my case for about 10 seconds and dealer backed up my argument that I had $50 up on both for the last hour. She relented but only gave me a $25 average (multiplied by 6 for bet of $150 plus $25 on trips) for total of $175 avg bet.

Anyone care to help with Theo calculation?

All in all, it was a fun diversion from getting my nuts kicked at BJ (perhaps only bc I was up) :D

But isn't that the same as saying that i have a 20 and dealer pulls a 5 card 21 or I have an 18 and dealer shows an 8 and turns over an ace?

I just finished off a weekend of UTH at CET properties in AC and walked away up $3800 playing mostly $50 ante and blind. I had one losing session spread out over six sessions.

Decided to save some money by not betting trips and progressive bets during my last session and estimated to have saved over $1800+ ($15+$5 x 30 hands an hour x 3 hours). I kept track and would have won the trips bet 3 times, with a high hand of a full house. The other two hands were a straight and trips. IMHO definitely -EV

Overall a fun game to play.

One thing I noticed playing UTH this weekend (over 12 hours) was that NONE of the dealers or other players had any clue about basic strategy in this game. I constantly had dealers commenting that "oh this guy is here to play" when they flip over hands like A5s or K8s or pocket 3's-6's where I put up a $200 or $300 4X play bet. I would play along and say stuff like, oh, A5s is a lucky hand and I always play that.

Players would hold off on 4X betting their small pocket pairs (3's-8's) until after the river, or not 4X a suited A lower than an 8. I often hearD comments like, "oh, I'm running bad right now, so I won't push it on pocket 6's"! I kept thinking to myself that they're leaving so much value on the table by not betting 4X.

I enjoy playing it with my family and friends at home, but as with most table games I lack the knowledge of how to bet. That is the most intimidating part of all of the table games for me. I'd like to play lower limit tables this next trip in early November if anyone is willing to help me or let me watch ( no hovering I promise) to get an idea?

Oh and whatever you do rycelover, don't ask me to roll the dice at craps! I suck and there was absolutely no virgin shooter luck to be had from my hands! Lol Poor newmans! I wanted to roll for an hour and win her and gamesman some money, but it didn't happen. Only thing I accomplished was to throw the dice off the table and hit the pit crew and rolled a hard 10 for my first point. I was so embarrassed after that crappy roll ( pun intended) that I had to leave the table! My sister in law also lost all her money just betting the pass line and we needed to find an ATM. ;)

Heather - you know I'll help you...but I won't be there until February 21-24, and I'll be downtown.

    $175 * 9/10 * 4 hours = 630 theo, back of envelope.

Did the ratings improve in later sessions?
