We're down to single digits for the Big Fall Trip! Got things off to an early start in one of my twice yearly visits to the Flusherville Casino. It's so dismal with such lousy VP that I rarely go there.

I had a feeling though, and got a nice surprise. Not only did I get my first Royal there since they opened about 15 years ago, I got my first Royal of the year and I got the four-to-a-royal draw off my back!!!

So that's an extra $1000 CAD for the trip, call it $750 USD. I'm trying to figure out some high stakes flyer thing to blow it on. Maybe a bunch of $10 keno tickets. Err, maybe not.

    Here are some pre-trip posts.

Nice! A little extra $$$ for the trip is always nice. My experience is royals come in bunches so this is hopefully the first of many for you.

I can't believe it took pretty much all of my Sunday to get packed. But it did. So many little details!

Printing things, taking pictures of traveller's check numbers, fussing with 800 electronic bits and pieces.

By six I was exhausted and nothing was in the suitcase.

    But I pressed on.

So the Quad Queen was practicing on her iPad and hit this.

Not sure how I feel about it.

1 in 649,740 to be dealt a royal. I know as my wife hit one playing deuces at PH back in April. 1 in roughly 40,000 for a overall royal. Not sure where the math is on this one, is it the machine, the player, the world??? I don't take any chances with that counter and wont play a simulation to get my counter reset to 0! Although I have had up to three in one 5 day trip. I'm so conflicted and confused! Good luck to ya'll though!

The shopping is going well! Just a minor shopping update. Isn't it cool when you can have a meal on Costco samples?

So... this is just great. It turns out this is not going to be a smooth ride into Vegas-land. Not at all. Don't you hate the things that can happen last minute????

Oh no! That flu has been going around and it lasts over a week! I hope you don't get it from your contact with Chef Ian before your trip or Royal Flusher will be doing nothing but flushing for awhile! Do you have a big crock pot? Put those loins in on low overnight and cook on low all day tomorrow and it will fall apart with your fork. Then make sauces on side for them to put which they like. Buy some good rolls from the bakery ( onion rolls go well with pulled pork, but get a variety) and guests can serve themselves. Pasta salad is a good cool dish and buy the freaking Cole slaw from a restaurant!

You always have such good advice, Hoofy - if that is your real name. :)

I gave my crock pot away because I thought it was useless. My bad.

I got the pork spiced up and wrapped in plastic for the night. Tomorrow, into the oven at 225.

I do like to tenderize my loins all day long.
