I came across a couple of vintage trip reports and thought it would be fun to put them up. It's an interesting comparison to see the changes in Vegas, and in our trips, from then to now.

This trip report is a really old one - the trip was in 1999 and the trip report came out in 2000, on the pre-blogger platform Flusher site.

I recorded some audio clips and included them with the report, and those are included.

    Hope you enjoy it!

    Here's Part 2.

Found an interesting way to get a comped meal at the Nugget. In retrospect I think I could have gotten more. We ate at the coffee shop at the Vegas Club. I have no idea how they let this place slip away over the years because I remember waiting in line to get into the place.

What was it called, the Upper Deck or something?

And who remembers this hotel... ha!

Here's part three of the 1999 classic, I Lost a Shitload of Money and Later Got Excited That Someone Gave Me Free Dice.

This was a really fun day, and there are parts of it I remember quite well, like the guy telling his kid that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was a moose.

We played those same dollar Jacks or Better machines at the Nugget in the hallway that I keep hitting Royals on. The scratch card promo at MSS was on even in 1999. And we went into the California, joined the slot club, and promptly left... little did I know it would become my fave!

OK, we're on to part 5 in which we check out the new (?!) Venetian, but find better luck at the Mirage.

Damn, comps were so easy then. We had to do a room change, so we just appealed to a slot club guy and he hooked us up with a breakfast comp, sorted the room change, and got the bags moved. Those was the days!

Here's part 6 - had some luck at T.I., and then did the Strip from Luxor back up through the then fairly new Paris, and Mirage. One of my fondest days ever in Las Vegas.

Ah yes, the Fitz and Don B's Streakhouse. (Don Barden was the former owner of Fitzgeralds in Tunica, Vegas and maybe elsewhere) Fond memories of the lucky shamrock 3 reel progressives and ribeyes at Don B's. The middle aged waitress with the speech impediment was an absolute sweetheart. The D is an obvious upgrade, but I did enjoy the Fitz before it fell into disrepair.

Nice job Flusher. Great old memories!

Enjoying the vintage trip report, interesting to see how things were back then.

When are you going to Vegas next Flusher?

The end of the Sonyc-Vysion(tm) Trip Report from 1999.

What a great trip, the first one that was completely free. Fortunately, not the last one, but they are rare.
