Didn't miss that at all. That is very true. But as more and more people figure out there are things called resort fees -- and it seems to flummox Vegas-goers more than any other travel demographic -- maybe talk should turn to this other big hunk of change, too. If one is bad shouldn't all be bad? I'm not looking at relative hurt, I'm just talking disclosure in general.

So I guess you wouldn't be a big Calvera proponent as the bandit's philosophy being:

I'm no bleeding heart liberal. But I do think that a relatively hidden fee that at a low-end hotel can exceed the quoted room rate by 100% or more is wrong, unnecessary, and bound to cause problems for the people that can afford it the least.

Just one more reason why getting to diamond is becoming more and more worth it. Though it's only a matter of time before they raise diamond to an amount of tier credits that even less people can get to. Or move no resort fees to 7 stars or one of the aspiration levels

My theory is MGM wants to squeeze every possible dime they can as quickly as they can to pay as much as they can to shareholders and then sell off as many assets as possible and of course since there is pretty much a duopoly on the strip Caesars can't follow suit without much push back.

It is some incentive where resort fees are concerned but my W/L statement might also suggest otherwise. And yes, Vegas is still a deal compared to other big cities but $32 for a resort fee is getting fucking ridiculous.

I read this entire thread, but didn't see anyone mention the non-gambling ways to avoid resort fees? They are a pain, and they have definitely made Vegas less affordable, but there are ways around them. I signed up for FoundersCard (not to be confused with "Founder's Club" on this message board) specifically because members are granted CET Diamond status. (And as cjohnson202 mentions, Diamonds don't have to pay resort fees.)

The card comes with a whole bunch of benefits. Between the AT&T discount and the Caesar's Diamond status, the money I save more than pays for the annual FoundersCard fee. Is anyone else using it?
