Where is the Delano? I think I would put the MB at 4.5 complex due to the diversity of room and food options.

Gonna be fun drawing up guidelines for this.

    Property or room?
Which particular room (Caesars has something like three-dozen stock configurations)?
    Minimum number of stays?
    Contemporary or ancient history?
    Comp, rack, other?
Some baseline elsewhere to provide context for relative ratings?
    Talent factor or irrelevant?

I would probably assign the rankings of the standard accommodations at MB as:

    Four Seasons non-suite rooms: 4.75
Delano King suite (their baseline room): 4.25
    Mandalay Bay Resort King: 4

Since Delano is all-suite (with a powder room and living area, and a full wall and door separating the living area from the bedroom and full bath) their baseline accommodation is pretty nice.

I think contemporary is key. I don't think you can rate a room as a 10 when the last time you stayed there was 15 years ago.
    Time moves on.....things change.

Indeed. That's why I always talk about context.

It has to be more than room.
Gambling options, food, service, pool, overall ambiance-design-upkeep, pool, spa, etc. all contribute to one's choices.
Some more than others, but it can't be just room.

Great Thread, but a really difficult one to compile a list of the hotel rooms (even leaving many personal decisions aside). Too many variables. For instance, distance from room to strip, or room to taxi drop off...things like this matter. Or, distance between room and convenient food outlets... it's all still counting on the room itself (location), so can't be excluded from the equation (through just looking at rooms for their size and decor). The newer hotels usually have better rooms as a general rule, for obvious reasons. Quality of decor and amenities also differ and add towards the score (so the soap also matters!) I stay at the Monte Carlo, not only because the hosts I've had to look after me, but I find that the location of the room to strip and general convenience is brilliant for me. I've not actually stayed in the standard rooms, but I've seen them. True...nothing to write home about and pretty much in dire need of a makeover (coming soon I think). I'd actually rate the standard room as a 2 star based on the opinions of many people on this thread. However, add on the other things that affect choice of room, and Monte Carlo is a firm 3 star for me. Ultimately however, I believe hotel rooms in Vegas are mostly governed by the perceived quality / price / availability ratio. You can't beat "free", and there will be other factors that affect choice of hotel thereafter. I like this thread because it's interesting to see the perceived quality of hotel rooms across the casinos.
