It sounds like a scale of 10 might be better here.

    For example:

10 - Mansion, Skylofts, Sky Villas

    And on down from there.

Shifter, do you want to create a ranking poll or similar that can be updated as a consensus rolls in?

If we are talking about regular rooms, I think the Mandarin Oriental would be the closest a to five stars with the Wynn and Encore coming right behind but closer to four stars. This is based not only on the rooms but the level of service provided for each regular customer.

I think the Aria, Cosmo, V/P, and Bellagio fit the four star range. Caesars, MGM, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, and Monte Carlo are three stars. Can't speak for the others as I have not stayed at those properties.

Although I've stayed at most of Krh's list, it's been a long time so I can't comment on really more than Wynn, Bellagio and Aria as of the last 2-3 years.
I do look at the total property so, although I think Sailboat's take would be consistent with my views, I have been at the MO when my son was there and there are some drawbacks compared to the casino hotels. Eating on site, while good, is very limited. The rooms are nice but kind of small and odd shaped. Pool can be a bit windy being up higher. No casino of course. But the service is great.
The 4S at least has a casino and food choices available downstairs through the "secret" door but it, like the MO, really seems like one could be in Chicago or Dallas. No Vegas vibe at all.
As far as what, for some kind of rating scheme, I would put as 5 star Vegas (and Vegas centric) places available to the public I'd say Skylofts, W/E TS, Bellagio Penthouses and up, and Sky Suites 1 BR's and up. Never stayed at V/P.
I wonder what The Delano suites are like? I loved THEhotel, it was great when it first opened. Really a trend setting concept.

MGM can't be a blanket property. The Mansion? What about Signature? And if you get ROH room at MGM, it is no more than 3. Caesars? Historically there were some 2-grade rooms in that place.

To me, top-tier (considering this is America) that John Q can access -- Mandarin, Four Seasons, Wynn. Bellagio, Vdara, Aria are 4s, parts of Caesars.

There are gradients at every level. What's the basis? Flamingo gets a half-tick up for the pool but PH suffers?

To rate a room is one thing.
To rate a property is another.
Take for example the MGM and MB. I've recently stayed at both properties. I would rate MB ahead of MGM in terms of overall amenities (namely the pool/food and property feel). The closest thing to the regular Delano room would be the Executive king suite. I've stayed in both. Then you hear about the west wing rooms at MGM and that wouldn't compare to the regular room at MB.

Then like Malibu said...FS. An entirely different rating.

This will definitely take a while to sort out. I say start with the absolute best rooms like the mansions. Make those the 10s and work from there.

Are we ranking rooms or properties (casino, pool, restaurants, etc) as a whole?

I wouldn't rank Caesars at the same level as Monte Carlo. The Caesars rooms vary greatly by tower. I like the rooms in the Agustus tower. They are so much bigger than some rooms I've stayed in at Bellagio.
Even regular rooms can run a wide band within a property.

In my opinion there aren't really any 5-star places when it comes to entry level rooms. Unless Four Seasons and Mandarin are part of the discussion.

Wynn is close and the way the staff is there helps enhance an already nice property.

As a Palazzo devotee I'd rate them a solid four.

    Good thread.
