This was supposed to be a short trip with friends for March Madness. It's turned into an emotional roller coaster of a month that will begin with me flying to Southern Indiana to see my elderly father who from all indications is not doing so well. He has lived a hard life, Vietnam War veteran, 3 purple hearts, multiple other decorations. He is a great man, but that life is starting to catch up with him. I worry he is being treated poorly where he is staying, so I'm going to go down there and wreck shop and hopefully get him comfortable and happy. If I have to bring him home with me, I will. He deserves the best.

Based on the short notice of the first let of the trip, I was scrambling to find a flight, a room and car. The DEGEN in me immediately found a Geezer's casino right across the river that had no problem comping me three nights. I reserved that, procured an economy class ticket at first class prices and settled on a lovely Ford Fusion to drop it low.

With a casino next to my bed, I'm sure there will be some debauchery at night. I've even been told there was a party pit. IN! I will need to blow off steam and train for Vegas.

After my affairs are in order, it will be time to catch a flight out with a brief layover in my hometown to pick up my bags and girlfriend to make the rest of journey to Las Vegas. We arrive March 15. This part of the trip could get ugly, I may be emotional unstable by this point in my journey and I'm going to burn off some serious steam. What better place for that than Las Vegas?

I've never done a live trip report, but I promise to finish strong. The goal of this trip will be to reconnect with my father, meet some old friends in Las Vegas, gamble with some VBers in Las Vegas, get really drunk, win lots of money and take my girlfriend to at least one nice dinner. She is the love of my life, and does Vegas the right way. She has excessive fun, no regrets, no judgements and gambles hard day and night.

We're going to wreck a craps table. Boosted will throw the 6 point fire. Throw some good luck our way. Let's get this party started a little early. I need to avoid my local for just two weeks....

Thank you. The unfortunate thing about the military boys of Vietnam is that they were treated so poorly when they returned home many of them are still unwilling to share their stories of heroism. Whether you believed in the war or not, those are the people that fought for your freedom. They did what they were asked. My dad has never shared much with me, I can only imagine what he's been through.

I'm still really looking forward to this trip, but I just found out my girlfriend may not go. She just found out she was scheduled for important training that week Monday to Thursday. I can tell she feels bad about skipping out, but I told her the training opportunity doesn't come around often so it's fine if she doesn't come. She hasn't decided yet, but she is leaning towards staying home. That sucks but at least she'll be around to watch our dogs and we won't have to board them. We're already booked for a July trip together and we go a couple times together a year already. I'm a little disappointed, but we have to look towards the future.

If she doesn't come I'll replace the nice dinner goal with a hit a 5 or 6 point fire bet goal.
