It's a little early for this to be a TR, pre-TR maybe. Mrs. LV and I fly out of RDU after a half days work on Wednesday. We'll stay at MGM on a comp, move to El Cortez for our first time living downtown and then migrate to Mandalay Bay on another comp for our final 3 days. I've been excited, as always, for a while about the trip now but feeling a little melancholy at the moment. I've been reading a couple of "I'm done with Vegas" threads and realize that the bloom is off the rose for me too. I'll continue to travel to Vegas as it still fascinates me. I love to gamble. I love to watch people. I love the fine dining. I also still love the bargains that I find with a little effort, but I have to not compare today's Vegas with that of yesteryear. New Vegas will lose every time for me. Yes, BJ rules and VP pay tables suck, as does double-0 roulette and low odds on craps. I feel under appreciated at times. But when I ask myself why, I say well why not? Profit is the motive and there are not enough knowledgeable people to deter the nickel and diming onslaught. There, I just hijacked my own thread but feel so much better. Thanks, VB,for listening.
Now, back to the original purpose. Our 3 adult children will accompany us for the first 3 days on their virgin Vegas venture. They'll club, pool, eat, get on the High Roller and hopefully thoroughly enjoy it. After all, the family that slays Vegas together stays together. I'm anticipating chip porn, slot porn, food porn, porn porn (Vegas is an aphrodisiac for some of us, right PT?) and will report this trip as live as possible. More to come later.

I think Vegas, like anywhere, is what you make of it with what you've got. Vegas has changed...sure...It has since I've been going. However, I still love it and do not compare it to yesteryear, because I've moved on as well at the same time. I said this in another post somewhere...."wherever you go, there you are". You'll take with you what you want to take. A family trip to Vegas with adult children sounds fantastic. I hope you find ways to really enjoy your time together and meeting others (and maybe winning - but you could do that from other places, or perhaps we could all work a little harder and not gamble to make more money...). I'm in town during your trip. Would be happy to meet up and shoot the dice.
