I'm new the sports betting game but i want to try to bet some NBA games when I'm in town (march 20th-23rd)

When I parlay some games can it be just on who is going to win, or does it have to be with a spread?

    Thanks

You can do a straight money line (who will win) parlay or a straight point spread parlay. Or you can combine the two and include money lines, point spreads and even totals.

You can parlay pretty much any bet you can make.

The payout on the parlay will be calculated based on the individual payouts of the bets. So obviously a huge favorite moneyline will pay out a whole lot less than the spread.

Yes you can do a ML parlay but be aware that the payout will be less if you ML the teams who are faves.

When the ticket says "straight bet" at the top what does that mean? I can't figure out if that ticket is bet on the spread or just who is going to win straight up.

    Thanks for the help

Straight bet at the top of the betting ticket simply means you're not making a multi-game bet, like a teaser or a parlay.

Straight bets can be on the side, total, or moneyline.

Many people call a side bet, a spread bet or against the spread (ATS).
Many people call a total bet, an over/under bet.

It's all the same. Just different lingo.

Sports like hockey and baseball have a side bet that is called the "puck line" and "run line," respectively. Those bets are typically 1.5 point spreads. For the favorite, giving up 1.5 means less juice. For the underdog, getting 1.5 points means you lose juice.

There's also a three-way moneyline bet that may or may not be featured in Vegas. They have them online at Bovada.

3-way works likes this: You can bet side A, side B, or draw for regulation time only. Normally, bets aren't decided until the completion of the game/match. Three-way moneylines are decided at the end of regulation, no overtime. These bets can be better because you pay less juice on the favorite, get more juice on the dog, and a nice payout for the draw.

One other tip, when you decide what you want to bet and before you walk to the window, know the # you're betting on and how much you want to bet. For example, you see this on the board or the betting sheet:

    607 SPURS -6 -120
    608 MAVERICKS +6 +100

So, if you want to bet on the Spurs -6 (and assuming you want to win $100), you'd walk to the window and say something like, "I want 607 for $120 on the side." You can also follow up with, "Should be the Spurs -6." The person writing the ticket will confirm. With that bet you'll win $100 if the Spurs win by more than 6 and the ticket will pay $220.

Knowing what you're going to bet before walking to the window will save you time, make you look like you know what you're doing, and will make everyone else in line very happy.

Thanks again. Yeah, i won't be in a rush at all. This isn't my first time to Vegas, but I've never bet on sports...and I'm a huge sports guy..so this time I'm going to try my luck. Thanks for the info on what to say because I know I would be lost. I'm going to take my time and make sure I do everything right.
