we have been taping the evening NBC telecast each night and skipping through all the garbage and never ending commercials just to see the highlights from the night before. Yes, we already know the results, but some of the competitions you just want to see the gold medal winning performance.

I must say for me this is the least anticipated Olympics in some time.

I do enjoy watching Phelps and Ledecky continue to dominate in the pool.

What about you? Are you watching?

    Any thoughts?

Yeah we do the same thing.

Ridiculous number of ads with very little action.

Last night I started watching 2 hours into the telecast and still caught up before it was over.

I watched the cycling, just catch snippets here and there, otherwise.

    Typical shitty broadcast.

I have watched some of the swimming. Ledecky lives in my neck of the woods and she just graduated from a local area high school. The funny thing is we have some friends who have had their daughters race against her in high school meets. They said it is like Michael Jordan in his prime playing basketball against a kid in middle school.

No interest, for two main reasons....

    • You don't know who is clean anymore, especially with the Russian doping scandal. And really... doesn anyone actually think it was just the Russians and that NO other athletes are trying to get away with it?
    • I don't get the sports that are judged. Every judge is biased somehow just like every parent is supposed to love each child equally. (A subset of this is that those sports are highly unwatchable, as the TV broadcaster gets orgasmic over a non-stuck landing or too much splash on a dive, and the athlete gets a great score from the judge). It's like watching Stephen A Smith.
    • I prefer watching actual team sports, but really, how many basketball, footy or rugby matches can a person watch in a day.
On our UVerse system, I set up a FAVORITES guide for my wife of the NBC Universal stations. She will spend most of the weekend afternoons watching and I'll kinda follow along. But I banish her to the bedroom to watch NBC's shitawful nightly broadcast.
