I don't dwell on and try to do all the celebrity chef restaurants. To sit there with one's hands folded looking at others bobbing their heads around in awe at the hand blown crystal glass, the waterfalls, the staff running around in their triple starched spotless white uniforms, etc., and so on----LOL, give me a friggin break! I came to enjoy myself, make noise, relax and stuff food into my face and tummy! I came to laugh, yell and about fall out of my chair! There are places in Vegas where people actually do have a great time eating and most of the celebrity chef places are not them! I believe most of them are fake and I am not a fan of 'unknown sauces' drowning the heck out of all the food. I have tried many of them and found a few that are above average and worth it, paying for them or not, comp'd or not. In Vegas there is everything available from fast food to 5 star celeb chef places galore. There is 'every kind of everything' in-between as well. Here are my top places.

I have had fun and 'many a blast' at some of these places. Unlike the casino property restaurants, where you are generally rushed, it is mundane, service pretentious and usually 'unmemorable' without many exceptions, I choose to go off property for most of the meals, even though I am full RFB&I wherever I stay. With that said, onward:

Hands down-some of the best places that are on casino properties:

At Mirage, 'Japanois', hands down 'GREAT'!
At Bellagio, 'Jasmine' 10 Star! 'GREAT'!!!
At Planet Hollywood, 'The Steakhouse', a Classic!
At C.P., 'Old Homestead' Just like being back in New York City on 14th Street, the original one!
At Bellagio, "Café Bellagio' 24 hours, the best café hands down on the Strip. (consistency, menu selections, staff and food quality NEVER WAIVERS IMHO)!!!
At Treasure Island, 'Phil's Italian Steakhouse'. (Great all around-never disappointing, they try harder)!

Pinks Hot Dogs. Outside of Planet Hollywood, on the Southwest corner of the raised façade patio/plateau. We love to consume these dogs!!! OMG, irresistible. Something for everyone. A second location of the original place in Los Angeles. A bunch of us would win money at the baccarat table in the high limit room there at P.H. and one of us would say, "PINK'S" and everyone's faces would smile. We would actually fight about who was paying the tab! OMG, such memories.

Little Saigon. A 24/7 never ever close Vietnamese/Southeast Asian menu restaurant just west of the Strip. From Treasure Island go west on Spring Mountain Road, 1 or 2 lights west of the I-15 interstate look on your left side, south side of the roadway. It is in the southeast corner of the intersection side. 3775 Spring Mountain Road. Sit and serious bull stuff session, big and friendly, service sucks most of the time, even if you are Viet/Laos no different. However, their PHO and fresh spring rolls and most everything is like being back in any large city Asian section at your favorite regular normal restaurant, etc. I believe there are some photos posted in my blog from Asian New Years and we ate there with the PHO and the vegetables for the PHO on the table, etc.

HOT N JUICY CRAWFISH!: Do it! A staple of my trips to Vegas. Have to do it about every time! 4810 & 3863 Spring Mountain Road, west of I-15 in the Asian section of town.

I normally get the Lobster and the clams and the crawfish and make a huge meal out the 3 entrees, etc. You can pick your seasonings and your spice levels, which is unique from many other places that only know one way to make something, their way.

Inside Miracle Mile Mall. Attached to Planet Hollywood. There are numerous good places, but there is one Italian restaurant (forgetting the name right now) inside the place. I looked up the mall restaurants and I am fairly certain it would have to be 'Lombardi's'

I ate there several times and was always great. Worth a shot if you are in the mall. It is about half way through the mall and it is in a spot where the walkway/aisle kind of bends. It is a sit down place and it is excellent. There are not too many sit down places to eat especially Italian in the mall, if you are looking for this you won't have any problem to find it inside. I highly recommend it, can't go wrong. Prices are in line with 'normal' restaurants off the strip and out of the hotels. I think we did about 6 adults and 2 kids before for under $300.00 and we were all stuffed. It was good!

Peppermill Restaurant & Fireside Lounge. Another staple of my trips to Vegas. If you are going to Vegas and want some old school Vegas, go here. You will not and cannot go wrong! Hands down take it to the bank! On the east side of the Strip and just north of the Las Vegas Convention Center which is just north of The Wynn Casino property. Breakfast. Let me repeat. BREAKFAST-BREAKFAST-BREAKFAST, 24/7 BREAKFAST. Get the picture? My favorite is, the Southern Fried Country Steak and Eggs, but I also get another entrée with it and that is the huge Fruit Waffle, they load it with big chunks of fresh fruit, not that canned stuff like Perkins and Denny's and IHOP does!!!! I also tell them give me 3 times the portions of fruit, yes, yes, yes, $$$ extra-so what. They really do have almost anything your regular east coast diners have. I usually get a bottle or two of wine if we have 4 or 5 or 6 adults with us, a couple glasses each. My favorite is the 'Butterfly Kiss Moscato' if they are out of that I get the Bolla Pinot Grigio or a Riesling of some type. Believe me, you can't go wrong here, the atmosphere, the color and the staff puts most all cafe's at 99.9% of the casino properties to shame, worth the short trip!!!!

CASA Di AMORE. (Go here-you won't regret it) If you don't like it, you hate great Italian food, great service and some of the best staff anywhere working. Seriously, it is a special place. I had some great times here and never ever left hungry, mad, dissatisfied or upset. Never ever. Been there about 40 plus times, probably in excess of 50??? My personal favorites is there 'Steak Sinatra' with a special side of eggplant. Or I get the 'Veal Parmigiana' with a small side of eggplant. I simply love their 'twice wrapped prawns and would get two orders of those. For desserts, if we are 4 people or more, I always order one of each; Bomba-Chocolate Souffle-Cannoli & one or two slices of the Tiramisu. Then we split it all! This place is worth going to, again, even if you are comp'd at a hotel property, you will enjoy this place more. Unless you are pretentious and have to have that fake aura of being a big shot in a celebrity chef restaurant, etc. The place is on East Tropicana Ave, north of the airport and east of it as well. Oh yeah, they will send their limo free to pick you up wherever you are staying! Most of the time they do have live jazz entertainment as well.

Battista's. Fun! Another old school fun and over-the-top Vegas place. Had many a laugh and many a great times at this place. Better known as; 'Battista's Hole in the Wall'.

The food is good to great, but a different atmosphere than Casi Di Amore. This is a rowdy, fun and lively place with strolling musicians and singing waiters, etc. Old School for the most part. Love it! I usually get the pasta and meatballs and also a second entrée of their signature shrimp in garlic-butter and seasonings. This is an all you can drink house wine place and as well, all the bread, minestrone soup and such you can stuff down your greedy little mouth! It is walkable from the strip without a doubt. 1/2 Block east side of the strip and right behind the old Flamingo and north side of Bally's property there. We have walked there many a time from Caesar's Palace even though we are 7 Star Players rating cards and we are full RFB&I customers. FUN!

Golden Steer Steak House. Just west of the strip on West Sahara Avenue. Which is across from the SLS on the north side of the property, runs Sahara Avenue. 1 block west of the strip, walkable. They have been there since 1958! It has history, not a fake name to it earned in another city. Serious history. I am full comp'd most places I play, I don't mind going here and paying out of pocket! A sampling of what we get: I always order 2 appetizers, Oysters and the Clams. I special request a side dish of apple slices, orange slices and a bottle of Sriracha Sauce. Mix those in with the oysters and clams! My invention, works for me. Then I order a plate of their lobster tails and the biggest shrimp they have. I also order a Rib Eye and their Lamb Chops. We split it all up, like a darn buffet at our table! Last time we got the Bananas Foster and the Cherries Jubilee thing, both cooked table side.

Sammy's L.A. Pastrami & Burgers. Pig out in the parking lot or get it to go. Last time we went we took up their little deck/patio there with a few tables of our people. I tried to do their food challenge which was only 6.5 pounds or something of food! yeah---right. Failed! But, I DID NOT leave hungry! They have two locations on Vegas, I have only been to their one on East Tropicana which is also down by Casa Di Amore.

Pizza Rock Las Vegas. Downtown area.

. It is not 24 hours, but open late into the early morning on weekends. They do have a DJ and music there, fun and entertaining, etc. Good and great pizzas and other stuff! Worth going downtown for even if you are coming from the strip or the west side.

Can't leave out, Frankie's Tiki Bar and The Golden Tiki. Both a great place to hang and enjoy some 'island time'. Experience awarded to those that can capitalize on living the word.

Thanks for the suggestions! Having lived in Louisiana I miss my crawfish, so I'll definitely put Hot and Juicy on my go to list next trip.

A word of warning. They do run out of items as the evening wears on. It has happened to us more than once for sure.

And, there is no way you can go wrong there. It is heads and tails better than most all others. Hard to explain, you will see when you go there, let me know if it was worth it.
