I will apologize up front as I know many will take offense to what I am saying, but since I am shy, here goes anyways:

Disclosure: I am not a golfer, (putt putt with the kids, oh yeah!) and watch very little but occasionally see the TV with it and as well on a course for another reason or two. Other sports are really physically challenging so the athletes have to be in shape or would not stand a chance. Even bowling, one has to run up to the foul line, no? In golf, it's just getting out of the buggy, grabbing a club and swinging. Maybe I am missing the physical endurance of it thou.

With that said, why is it just about all the golf stars and golf greats are skinny-not overweight or even large stocky build people, at least the highest darn majority I noticed?? And, the local courses and lets just say, not 'golf stars', the courses contain lots lots of over weight golfers and people swinging clubs.......................??? But still no matter what, all the stars are in shape and the semblance at the courses are completely the opposite??

Oh well, at least they wont blow away when it s windy.

because the Pros have to walk the course, they are not in a cart. It is about a 6-7 mile walk at the length the Pros play the courses at. Local courses have players who are using the cart - so not getting any exercise. The Pros also put in a full work week's worth of time practicing, hitting the gym, etc. These guys are in phenomenal shape - that is why you notice the difference.

Great answer, never realized it. With that kind of money, thought they would be riding in leather tufted seated gold buggies with drop down TV screen on the visors jamming to MTV or something??

actually against the rules for a Pro golfer to use a cart. Only a couple medical exceptions have been granted in the past

Yep, these guys are in surprisingly phenomenal shape, and even the round ones have very good cardio. Hell, go back 50 years and look at Arnie, he was pretty cut and there weren't a lot of gyms and PEDs back then, just cigarettes and booze.

Well, not really against the Rules of Golf. Just a condition of competition adopted by various organizations and tournaments.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It is not in the Rules of Golf handbook

Ken, correct about the Nascar guys.

Absolutely correct, except the wrecker operator guys need the weight to pull and place the 3/4" to 1" cables and snatch blocks and spreader bars, etc. Hence their weight is useful. Myself, that was my problem, some of the large snatch blocks (pulleys) actually weighed over 150 pounds and walking up a ladder to place them overhead on overturned trucks was an extreme problem for myself! .
