As I am sure many are aware, Monte Carlo is going through a rebrand this summer. In my opinion, it's great thing because Monte Carlo never had a strong identity and has a great position on the Strip to do something more.

Anyone have any guesses as to what it will be called/what the theme or direction will be for the rebrand/renovation?

Also, thoughts as to whether it will go 'up market' a bit (Mirage/Mandalay/MGM level), versus stay on-par with NYNY/slightly above Excal/Luxor?

Excited to see what happens because I love the location but have never been a big fan of Monte. Rooms suck and Casino is not laid out in a convenient way.

I wouldn't expect too much with PGP in full swing.

just a lot of lipstick on a pig.

MC has been a dud since opening. I tried and tried and tried to like it but aside from a great value steak place back in the day, Andre's and the brew pub when it actually brewed, the place always fell flat. Tissue paper for walls, ShitDonald's and that fucking food court effectively in the middle of the proceedings, a totally failed attempt at being somehow aesthetically swank, then they put all that shit in front ... stillborn.

Yeah, I haven't researched the PGP a lot, but it seems a little counter-intuitive to me. CET has shown some initiative in remodeling lately (Cromwell, new Flamingo renovation coming, Bally's), so I'd think MGM would want to stay ahead of them by doing the same? Maybe I'm wrong.

Agreed - the only part I like about it is the location. Again, just seems like they could do a lot more with it.

The perfume stench that hits you like a brick wall of offensiveness when you hit the "Street of Dreams" coming from Aria is enough to keep me away from MC.

I thought I read somewhere speculation that it could be a Park Hyatt to go with the "The Park" theme ... whatever, man. Place is a dump.

Monte Carlo's new name will be "The Park MGM". They will also carve out a section of the property and co-brand it as a boutique hotel-within-a-hotel called the NoMad. Budget for the makeover is $450MM.
