My sincere condolences for your loss. Your mom sounds like a great lady and what a graceful exit. My mother passed in Feb and we did get her home with hospice for a few days. I cannot say enough good things about the care and services hospice provides.

I hope your memories are keeping you warm.

That reminds me of another funny from mom: When hospice was ordered, it was decided she'd go to my sister's place as we could all be there and she'd have this awesome view. And mom was so pleased. So a few hours go by, meds and equipment are being prioritized, care instructions are being drawn up, and apparently my sister and I looked like a couple deer in the headlights. So mom says, "Umm, maybe I should do in-facility hospice for a few days while you guys figure this out."

That was smart. We got her home a few days later.

Sorry for your loss. My mother is 84 years old and I had to put her in a nursing home about a year ago. It is very sad because her frail body has outlived her mind. She has severe dementia and she is not the same woman anymore. I could deal with the craziness of her mind. I just couldn't keep her safe. She was constantly falling. Opening all the outside doors in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping etc. It was hard to do but now she is safe and relatively happy. Plays dominoes and bingo. I am not worried about her safety now. But every day she slips further away.

Great share Ken, thank you. Like your mom, my mom was also thinking of others while in the final weeks of her life. Moms are special. Sorry for your loss.

Ken sorry for your loss but love the way you taking it all in. It has taken me months to get to that point over my dad and even his Bday today brought back many memories...

You can tell that your mom was well loved and thanks for sharing.

Great way to remember your mom! I hope that I acquire a similar attitude when my mother passes. She has early stages of dementia. I've been away from the forum for awhile trying to get help for her condition. Thinking of you Ken!
