MGM is buying out Boyd for sole ownership of Borgata:

As a loyal MGM player who has no interest in most of the Caesars properties down there, this will definitely motivate me to go to AC more frequently. The biggest negative for me was basically not being able to leverage any play I might give AC for my Vegas visits.

Awesome for the same reasons 44 stated. I've been waiting for MGM to get a stake here in NJ.

This is great news. It only took how many years? Not only will I bypass Caesars properties now when in AC, but it will give me more incentive to make the drive to AC instead of my local.

Not just a stake (they've had an ownership interest in Borgata since the beginning), but a real presence as MGM Resorts, as opposed to just the joint venture. I remember when they first opened, there was no real integration but you could theoretically use Borgata comp dollars for stays at MGM properties in Vegas, which wasn't of much use; then after the whole Pansy Ho thing, while the MGM's half was in trust, I think you could do Boyd properties and Wynn/Encore. The Borgata is a beautiful property, but while I'd never "play for comps" per se, I was also somewhat reluctant to gamble in a situation where I'd truly get nothing out of it. Not to mention, I always had trouble earning anything substantial at Borgata, so I never really had a chance to hit Black Card status and start getting real benefits.

Bottom line, this is pretty exciting.

This will motivate me more over the next 6 months or so to go up there. But, once national harbor opens, I see less and less reason to travel to Borgata.

If I were in Philly though, that would probably be my local.

This is excellent news bc I've been giving B more play recently after having made 7* for the year in March @ CET. nice to know that I can leverage my play at AC for comps in LV.

the Borgata is really the only "nice" place in AC nowadays. Been there a few times in the past when in the area on business and they always gave me comped rooms based on my MILF status. Instant credit line also from just looking up MGM history. Being solely MGM now should improve the experience, imo. I think the Boyd / MGM relationship was a strange partnership.

Seemed a lot like the Foxwoods/MGM relationship where MGM pumped in a bunch of money and that's about it. Glad to see MGM is making (or just taking over) some solid casinos on the east coast.
